after an extensive search, i found my missing jump rope.
i plan on using it when i wake up in the morning before i eat.
so here are my questions:
how long should i jump rope for?
is this an efficient aerobic exercise plan?
also, do you have any tips on actually jumping rope? i'm afraid that if i'm not good at it, i'll give up.

combined with cutting calories and non-water drinks, how long do you think it will be before i see results?

also, i will be doing gym class in p.e., including running, kickboxing, etc.
and occasionally yoga at home.

Jump roping is a great aerobic activity, and will be a great boost to your metabolism in the morning.
I suggest maybe 5 minutes of stretching, 20 minutes of jump roping, and 5 minutes to cool down.
Well since your also taking gym class, that will be great too.
It's hard to say when you'll be seeing results since everyones body works differently, but I'm sure you'll be able to see your muscles starting to get a bit toned.

Just be patient, and you'll do fine.

hey there, ok a few things i think would help: dont worry about the jumping rope thing for now, if you want to lose weight you should weight train. the reason for this is that the more muscle you have the faster your body can burn calories this helps to shed the pounds and keep them off. and drink water get your 8 glasses or so. its a good goal to lose about 2 pounds a week. dont be discouraged if at first you gain weight, check your measurments and you will see that you are getting smaller. this is because of the popular term "muscle weighs more than fat" - the reality is that a pound of anything weighs the same as a pound of something else its just that muscle takes up much less space. keep up the running and kickboxing but throw some weights in the mix i promise it will be great. oh yea and weight train every second day so your muscles have time to rest in between.

If you want to lose weight, I seriously recommend Weight Watchers.
They offer two different 'diet' plans, both which are do-able, and you can continue to eat that way for the rest of your life (and stay at your 'goal' weight, after you reach it, of course!).

I've tried making up my own diet and exercise regimens before, but with no success. No diet plan has ever helped me lose weight like this (using the Weight Watcher's plan), and I haven't even added exercise yet (have only slightly modified the way I eat).

Check out the link below for their website, and find a meeting near you (where you can go to learn - and continue to learn more and be inspired by others success).

Never time yourself, doing stuff like jump rope you should do until you are dead tired, if you feel like you will pass out keep going, it might hurt but as soon as you stop and rest the pain will be gone. but it all depends on intensity, its great for cardio but not if you do 20 reps and say oh tahts good enough. for jumping rope just vary some stuff you do, do some forward, some backward, jump on one foot, skip, do a light jog, jump in a box - for example jump forward, jump right, jump back, jump left and thats a box, dont count calories too much since they are your energy for the day, be more worried about the types of carbs and fats and so on that you are eating since those are what can really hurt you.

one final note, dont expect fast results, it takes 21 days to see 1 days work, yea it sounds like a long time but you will be surprised how good that 1 days work looks when it does show.

I say anything that keeps your heart going is good for you. And cardio is a good way of loosing the jelly belly. As an advice stretch your legs before you jump rope or else your going to end up hurting your heel and ankles. Practice makes perfect.
