I have a bunch of boxes in trusses over my garage. The ceiling has open 2X4 trusses set on 24" centers. I would like to put down a simple flooring in the main open area and a pull down ladder. This would be used just for light storage such as Christmas decorations. The garage is a 2 Car garage. Is this safe for light storage? Do I need to re-enforce the trusses under where I'm adding the storage area?

The trusses are more than enough to support light storage. Just make sure to spead the weight around. Just consider that those trusses would normally have 5/8 sheetrock hanging from them. If they can hold that, they can hold your Christmas balls.

You have more than enough support for light storage, the only thing you need to remember is to vent your garage roof if its not already vented for circulation. Once you put the flooring up there, in the heat of summer sun etc. its going to become extremely hot and you could end up harming the things you are storing.

tough question ( not enough information about trusses) but, it is not going to fall on your head. the trusses would have to come apart before anything could happen. just spread the weight out and you should be alright.

You may be using it for light storage buy you will have to negotiate your body around up there, too, so added support is recommended. Just some suspension support should do.
