One advantage of HDMI is that it combines both video and audio on one cable. To me this is not a big deal.
Most devices (e.g., DVD players, Blu-ray players) have multiple outputs, so even if you don't have HDMI you should be able to use DVI or component inputs. However, if you have a device that ONLY has HDMI output you won't be able see that on this TV.
HDMI-HDCP, on the other hand, will let you watch high definition "protected" programming on your TV. If you don't have HDMI-HDCP, you can still watch high definition "protected" programming (e.g., movie), but it will be converted to a lower resolution.
What lower resolution I don't know that, but my guess would be somewhere between a DVD and a HD movie. From what I read, for a 1366x768 resolution (the LCD TV you are trying to buy) the difference will not be huge.
To summarize my personal opinion is that since the TV you are buying is 1080i and not 1080p anyway, not having HDMI should not be a huge deal.
Obviously, in the end this is up to you...

You should definitely get a TV with HDMI (HDCP compliant). Not only does this give you the best picture quality, it allows you to use "upconverting" DVD players that output standard DVD in HD formats (720p or 1080i; they aren't HD, but are better than the analog connections). Also, the new high def DVD players will output their highest quality signal (1080p) on HDMI only. Finally, there is the threat from the movie studios that they will require the player to output high def on the HDMI output only--the analog outputs would have reduced resolution (480p or 480i). So far this has not happened, but the capability is built into the player, and who knows what might happen in the future. Having an HDCP-compliant HDMI input (as almost all new HD tvs do) protects you against that possibility.
NOTE: The TV in your link has DVI input, which is the same as HDMI except that need a separate audio connection. You can get HDMI to DVI cables or adaptors. However, the set does not have HDCP compliance and will not give you the protection against poosible future resolution limitations.

If your buying a LCD, MAKE sure it DOES have a HDMI port. HDMI provides digital video and audio. It will also supply the best picture quality. Try Vinc.com if your looking for a cheap LCD. They are offering a 42" for less than 1k this year. I think the 37"(which I own) is like $799!

One day all TVs/dvd players/broadcasts will be HD.
If you are buying a new TV now I would and did get a HDMI ready TV rather then be behind the times in 1 or 2 years.

If your devices (DVD, HD, etc.) have HDMI connections you would get the most out of them if you could connect them to a TV with HDMI imputs. I think I would look for a TV with them.
