If you are talking about anyone who delivers food, they get paid less than minimum wage. And it's legal for their employers to do so. Not sure if those are the delivery people you refer to, but I am assuming...like pizza delivery. I am sure as a Wendy's employee...you were paid at least minimum. But food service is another story. So technically, they don't only expect a tip...they depend on it. Not to mention, it is customary when food is ordered to be delivered, they have provided you with a value added service, and therefore, you are expected to tip them for the privelege. If you were running food out to cars at Wendy's, it wasn't a value added service...you were just behind in cooking up your hamburgers and the customer was forced to sit and wait for it.

Waitresses and waiters expect tips, and all they do is bring the food to your table, delivery drivers bring it right to your house! They have to buy their own gas in most cases and are usually only paid minimum wage, the same as you at Wendy's. Personally I do tip at certain fast food places, such as Subway because these people prepare your food and serve you. I would rather tip someone who doesn't expect it then a waiter or waitress that does. If I receive poor service at a restaurant I am still expected to tip, and in some places they automatically and a certain percentage to your bill, deciding how much you are expected to tip regardless of the quality of the service. To me this is outrageous.

Delivery people don't make that much in hourly wage, almost never more than minimum wage and often less. There is a big difference between running an order out to a car in the parking lot and delivering something to a persons home or office. In one situation a restaurant is being run in such a way that your behind in getting orders out and people have to wait for "fast food" in the parking lot when they went through a drive through because they were in a hurry. In the other somebody is using their personal car not to mention gas that they had to pay for to get you your food as quickly as possible. That person has to fight traffic, find house numbers on dimly lit streets, find buildings in gigantic sprawling apartment complexes, run up multiple flights of stairs and spend lots more on car maintenance than the average person. They deserve a tip because they put alot more into bringing you your food than just walking an extra 50 feet into a parking lot.

uh oops careful you're actually not supposed to cuss on here, you can get a violation...so its bull sh*t.
Anyways, delivery people get tipped, because it is the customer who is expected to cover the gas of the underpaid delivery driver. Depending on where you live... even a dollar can be considered a tip. They only get an hourly, usually minimum wage, and if they agree to tot that dorky sign around on top of their car, it'll give them $1+ per hour, but nobody but the tipper covers gas or wear and tare on their vehicle. Hope this helps.

there job is depended on tips. if you deal with certain restaurants that delivery to you, believe me you want to tip the driver. next time you may find some extra toppings that you didnt order. they may mess with your food.
the drivers never forget and they do tell other drivers how cheap the person is.

I disagree, they should be tipped. Most delivery drivers work for low wage and are paying for their own gasoline, which in case you haven't noticed, isn't cheap nowadays. If you get good service, you should tip. Why oh why are people so CHEAP?????

Cause they did something for you. Not your fault other people didn't tip you, so why shouldn't you tip them?
BTW, y'know where the custom of tipping started?
In England, when people were beheaded, the person who was about to be beheaded would tip their excutioner so their death would be fast, quick, and virtually painless.

they shouldnt be tipped, however if they work in a resturant, they only get paid like $3.50, so the tips help them get minimum wage. I think that is a weird comcept too, but it is how it goes.
