This particular riddle was actually asked by my school teacher 20 years ago. I am still trying to figure it out :-) Noone else could give me a good answer either.
There were two identical snakes whose bodies could stretch infinitely and their mouths can be opened infinitely wide too. Now, the first snake starts to swallow the second one starting at it's tail. And the second one immediately started swallowing the first one's tail at the same speed. The question is what happens to the snakes finally?

These snakes are very elastic, can compressed or stretched as much you want. The tricky part for me is when each snakes keeps swallowing the other till they reach the heads and then???
Also you have a situation where there is a snake inside a snake inside a snake.....

The snakes are not infinitely long. But they are very stretchable, which means they can swallow things of any size/length as their body will stretch accordingly.

To those who said they will form a ring, right. Then as they progress eating the ring gets smaller, but how small? And for argument's sake these snakes do not choke or die.

REAL ANSWER: both will die, coz the a snakes heart's is in the middle of the body and when those two heads reach its others heart's at the same time, both will die.

(however, if the heart of another snake is much nearer to its tail, it would die first)

The snakes will be eating each other forever, as their bodies stretch infinitely (forever). Who knows - after 20 years, are they still eating each other?

They will not consume each other; just that once one of the snakes is too weak to move, it'll stop.
