Mine's mixed with a Beagle and has a smooth coat.
He's full of energy and high maintenance. He stalks my cats, cleans up all the crumbs off the floor when I'm cooking, and is a very loving, loyal, protective dog.
And what a sniffer! Each time we let him out he runs full speed covering every square inch of the yard without picking his head up once (and we have a big yard). That's the Beagle in him though.

I have a 1/2 broken coat JRT and West Highland Terrier. She's REALLY cute and wicked smart. You can see her pics here: http://www.dogster.com/pet_page.php?i=418091&j=t I like her broken coat, although she had a haircut recently so she's all soft now.

The short legged sausage looking ones are so ugly. If you want to see a cute one look them up under Parson Russel Terriers (the broken coat ones).

They are a great looking dog, I have a short hair/ (smooth coat) and they are a smart dog, a little high strung, they have lots of energy, takes a lot of time to train but well worth it..

beauty etc. is in the eye of the beholder. They are cute when they are asleep but when they are awake they are annoying and have too much energy and aren't too swift. They say the smartest dog is the border collie they too have alot of energy but trained properly they are very useful around the farm..not a city dog. My favorite dog is the Dandy dinmont, quiet, smart, loves to play, typical terrier( is not afraid of anything with hair on it) I had the sweetest dandy once and if I could I would get another in a heart beat.

I've personally had dealings with two Jack Russell terriers.
The first one decided to try to attack me while I was waiting at the bus stop. I was over 150 feet away from it, and minding my own business at the time. Unfortunately for the dog, when it finally wiggled out of it's back yard gate, it forgot to check for traffic on the four lanes of road between us. It was hit by one car, and rolled underneath. When it jumped up after the car passed over it, it was hit by a second car. It took the dog a full minute to get up from that hit, and fortunately for it, it had been thrown to the grass beside the roadway. Neither of the drivers stopped. The owner finally heard the dog's screams and came out to get the dog. He placed it in a cardboard box and left it on his front porch. Probably to wait to see if it was going to die, but my bus came by then, so I don't know what happened after that.
The second Jack Russell is owned by an older couple down the street. She was walking the dog, on a 12 foot leash late this summer past our house. I was just going to the store with my middle grandson. He was 9 at the time. We both bent over to greet the dog, didn't approach him at all, just held out our hands. The dog charged my grandson, and luckily he managed to jump back quickly enough that the dog's teeth only inflicted a little tear in his shin, instead of the full bite that the dog was attempting. The dog needed to be quarantined for two weeks to ensure against rabies, and now has to be muzzled while he's walked.
So, yes, Jack Russell terriers are cute. But they were also bred to be ratters, so have unpredictable temperaments. I hope yours never gives you any trouble.

They are cute dogs. My brother and sister-in-law have two and my sister has one. They can almost talk!! However, they are a bit too hyper for me. I am more of a golden retriever type person.
