When I was a little girl, I through tantrums. One day, I was crying and my daddy brought me to a mental health emergency center. He talked to one of the workers and the workers gave me a stern, hard look like I committed a murder (like I was a criminal.)

Why does this traumatize me so much? Everytime I think of it I tremble. :(

The look was probably aimed at your Dad for not knowing how to deal with the situation himself and distracting EM workers from real life-threatening emergencies.

They weren't upset with you personally, all kids have tempertantrums.
If anything they were irritated with your Dad because they felt he was bringing you in based on a NON-emergency.

They just forgot to change their expression when they looked at you, that's all. If anything that look was meant for your Dad, and honestly I think they could have been a little more friendlier towards him too.

You were young. You simply translated the situation wrong.

It was very cruel of your dad to treat your tantrums this way. If you rememberit after all these years it really traumatized you. Do you remember anything else?? Did anything else happen?? Ask your dad or try to find some records to make sure they did not try any aggressice therapy to stop the tantums. If the nurse glared at you , i don't think you would have such a vivid memory of the events. try to dig a little deeper in your memory to find everything. then if it still bothers you see a therapist even if this is all there is to it.

peace&hope.

Anti social behaviour like throwing tantrums ... if not corrected you probably would have become a criminal.

If your dad was that concerned that he took you to a mental health emergency centre, then the tantrums must have been "nasty ones"

I agree with your dad.

bc most people dont really no how to deal with a child .. so they think instead of finding out what the problem is,, that the child has mental problems....why you felt that way YOU WAS A CHILD.even a grown up would feel like that if they get hauled off to a mental hospital....

It doesn't sound like a very loving approach to helping a child. Maybe there is also something there you are not remembering.
