I am so sorry for your loss. I agree with the others on here who have said that they are with God and in a better place. That's the most comforting thought in times like these. I think the people who are posting you need to take better care of your pets or try keeping up with your pets are cruel and hateful. Not once did any of you ask the circumstances. I think almost anyone who has had pets has had them get out accidentally no matter what precautions you take. Try to have a little more sympathy. God forbid there come a time where you've made a mistake and need comforting. To the person who asked the question, my prayers are with you and your sister. Time will heal the pain. Hang in there.

Well first you should give her time to heal. Try to do things that your sister likes to do to keep her mind off of it. But then also just let her cry to you if she needs someone to talk to. Also tell her that the cat is in a better place now. She should not worry. Also ask her if the cat would want her crying over her or if the cat would rather have her remembering all the times they had together.

I think it is time to talk to her and let her know whatever your family belief is about the after life or heaven or death. Children need to know that things around them dont just "end" they go somewhere to be together (like your dog and cat are with all the other cats and dogs playing together) I used to work at a vet and put alot of animals to sleep. This was what I know makes things easier for a child to digest.

I am so sorry about both your dog and the cat. Please from now on if you ever get another pet keep the pet inside if a cat & spayed or neutered if you have a dog please please walk the dog with a leash! I don't mean to lecture you at such a sad time in your lives but this is how we loose our dear pet friends! Leash, and inside OK? Once again I truly am sorry to hear of your losses. I know you loved them both.Poor babies! Tell your sister that God has a special place in Heaven for pets. I truly believe that.

So sorry for know how difficult it is to lose a loved pet. I do believe and so do many others including VETS that those animals that have emotions, feelings, dream, have memory and even show empathy(care for and sympathy for others) as my cat who always stays beside me when I do not feel well.) have souls and when you have a soul it does not die but goes to Heaven young again and all the ills and pain in this life gone forever-it says the lion will lie with lamb- and when its out turn if we've had people and/or pets who died before us that they will be waiting.

As with any lose the best thing you can do is comfort her...and yourself. Losing a pet is like losing your best freind and the lose can be overwelming. Take this as the truth because I have lost 3 best freinds and 5 dogs in my life. There really was no differnce in the sense of loss. Have her talk. focus your energy on letting her talk about it. the anger, the saddness and the greif.
It is hard losing a pet..now you got two within a short period of time. watch each other. be productive and talk about it, cry about it and hopfully celebrate the time you had with them. They would wish that for you.

I am so sorry to hear about your losses. Our pets are just like family, and it is painful to go through a loss of one--but in your case 2 which has to be unbearable.
Maybe you could go pick out a kitten this weekend. It will never replace either of your pets but it might just help fill the hole in your heart right now.

this is just one of the thousands of stories i hear from people who let their cats outside of the house. u just cant do it. cats are indoor creatures; no matter how "smart" they are, u cant let them outside. they pick up all sorts of diseases and someone could take them, and it doesnt matter how smart they are; they usually get killed by a car within the first 3 years. i'm sorry this happened to your cat, but maybe this is a lesson to your sister to take better care of her animals. both of your animals have been hit by cars, u can grieve, but use this as an opportunity to teach yourselves that maybe your dog needs a leash, and your cat needs to stay inside.
sorry to be blunt.

Aww, that is soo sad! Awful. I am so sorry that your family is having to go through this tough time!!

I know how our animals become beloved members of the family..

The only thing that I can recommend is to get a new puppy and/or kitten (one at a time).. You not feel ready for this, but you would not believe how a new lil' 'friend' can help to ease the pain at this difficult time..

Best of luck, hoping that the hurt eases quickly as humanly possible..

One way to help her would be to realize that you live in a place where your pets can't run loose without getting killed. Please don't get another cat or dog unless you plan on keeping them inside, on a leash, or in a fenced yard. These kinds of deaths are so senseless, and it's really hard to tell her they are dead because you guys didn't take better care of them.
