Dogs die from jumping out of truckbeds. Even if they are tied to something they can still try to jump and wind up hanging themselves. Have the dog ride on the floor of the car - it is the safest place for a dog to travel aside from in a crate.
Also, just because a dog can jump a certain height does not mean that they should on a regular basis. It can cause joint damage. You shouldn't be choosing your dog based on whether or not it can jump in your truck without you bothering to put the tailgate down, anyway.

we have 6 foot tall kennels (only used when we have company), and my male dobe can jump as high as the top of the fence. He doesn't jump over or out of it, just in excitement he jumps straight up.
Jumping into the back of a truck without the tailgate down? You're just asking for a vet visit. Let's see, broken ribs, punctured lung from the broken ribs.... Dobes love to ride, put him up front!!!
Please don't let your dog ride in the back of your truck unless he is tied to an eye bolt in the center of the bed and a rubber mat in the bottom. Make sure the lead is short enough that he CANNOT reach the side.

Dobermans can jump, but jumping into a truck with the tailgate up can risk injuries, despite how good of a jumper you get.
Plus, why can't the dog ride IN the truck with you? Instead of in the back, where they can get hurt.

Yes, dobermans can jump. However, they have very soft underbellies that tear easily and wouldn't jump over any object that might scratch their bellies. Plus I hope you know a good way to get some claw marks off your truck!

Dobermans can jump, but if your doberman is older, than he/she may not have the strength to jump up into your truck and may develop arthritis later on.

Yes they can jump. Hope you like scratch marks on the side of your truck if you don't want to put the tailgate down.

I like the SUB part of your screenname, I'm not sure the 2nd half of your name applies - especially here.
Do you also want a dog that can fix it's own bowl of food and clean it's water dish and neatly package it's excriment in tidy plastic bags for you? How about he take the cans to the curb for you too?
Do you live in never-never land? Don't get a dog. Even if it's perfect you'll find a way to be disappointed in it, and the dog will suffer.
Grow up, get married, have a couple kids, THEN get a dog.

Sure, if you want the dog to hook a leg on the tailgate and rip it right out of it's socket.
Not to mention the scratch marks it will leave on your truck.

You are an idiot for even wanting any dog, if this is your attitude.
Any large breed of dog is prone to hip joint injuries even without living with an abuser. Leave the dogs alone.

Laziness? What happens when it gets too old and arthritic? Will you still like it then? That's a stupid reason to pick a dog. It sounds like a good way for a dog to get hurt.
