I season mine by putting them on the stove on a high flame until they are good and hot. I then pour in a little olive oil and spread it all over with paper towel and let the pan cool.

Saw a show on Food Network about this at least a month ago. The Lodge Cast Iron Skillet company "seasons" their pans by baking them in a hot oven after coating them with oil. That's how you can season a pan at home, too, but they have done it in advance as a response to customer requests. It was a neat show.

Do you have a cast iron pan? Take good care if it and it'll last for, literally, generations.

Usually they are not, but put a coating of oil on them and put them in the oven at about 250 until it smokes only about 10 minutes. you only have to do it once but do not clean with soap, just wipe clean with water after each use or you will have to do it again.
