I recently was called "Dog Breath" by some high school kids from their car as they drove by. There was 4 white males in the vehicle.
I am half asian and half white. I'm in my late 20's. I live in Northeast Wisconsin so, there are a lot of rednecks and racists. I did not realize until I got home and told my wife (who is mostly white) about the incident and she told me it was a racial slurr.
Has anyone ever been called, called someone or ever heard of "dog breath" ?????
Thanks

I don't have bad breath. They were driving by how could they know I had bad breath. I was told that its an asian insult because some asian cultures have been known to eat dogs. I took and still take it as a racist insult.

Whoa.
Bummer people are showing their stupidity and lack of culture so blatently. Sorry you were the victim to that junk.
No, this is the first I've heard that term. In my family we joke and laugh over our 'morning breath', but I call it 'dragon breath'. We sometimes start the day off joking and laughing about how dangerous our breath is when we wake up. We're just a bunch of sillies.
Racism is another story, however. It's never okay to hurt somebody else; picking on someone's culture/appearances is the stupidest, lamest thing I can imagine. People who behave racist are extremely egocentric and cannot see their own shortcomings.
I want you to stay safe. Be as careful as you need to be.
Rednecks. Say no more...

Grow some thicker skin. 'Dog breath' has been around since I was in high school (in the seventies if you must know) and there is nothing racial about it (unless you happen to be a cat). Why is it that redneck dumb@sses can only hate other white people without setting off the racists alarms? It's a free country and if any idiotic, trailer-trash redneck @ss-wipe wants to hate asians, blacks, hispanics or whatever then so be it. Hell, they probably marry dogs and know first hand what dog breath is.

...No, never heard of it, that sounds preeeetty stupid.
http://www.urbandictionary.com can explain almost any slang out there.
Remember, words are merely words, and they're only offensive if you choose to be offended. Just because some teenagers are bigoted and stupid doesn't mean anything about you. They probably would have called an Arab a sand ***.ger or an Italian a deigo or whatever else.
But uh, no, never heard that one before. And I've heard some interesting slurs.

When someone is called 'dog breath' around here (Texas - the home of the redneck by the way) it means they smell bad. It's not racial at all. I came from Minnesota originally, and I don't think I've ever heard of it being a racial slur in the north either. It generally means something or someone smells bad. Sorry, no intention of putting your wife down, but I think she's wrong.

They are calling you this because some Asian cultures eat dogs. The person was a racist fool, and, as you said, a redneck, so their opinion really has no merit.

I have never considered this to be a racial slur, but it is certainly an insult. Forget about it.

Its not a racial slur, it may be a bad way to tell you your breath is bad or just an insult, but it may be wise to use breath mints from now on, or go see a dentist. Chilren often repeat what they hear from their parents, so it maybe wise to heed it rather than imagine its discrimination. lol dog breath as a racial slur.

I think it is a good insult. I heard it first on the TV show Hill Street Blues. I don't think it is racist.
