I am 19 years old, 5'9" tall, and I weigh nearly 300 pounds. I do not have the means to go under the knife, or even join a gym. I am so embarrased about my weight issues that it is hard for me to go out into the neighborhood to go on a walk because I am afraid everyone will stare at me. I do not have any money to buy any home equipment and I really need help. I am in danger of developing high blood pressure and diabetes. Other than that, I am extremely healty. I am an energetic person who has a lot of friends, but I hate shopping for clothes and I am definitely terrified of what I might have to deal with in my future. Please help. Any ideas will be useful.

Get up early when the day is fresh and walk for at least a half hour, walk as fast as is comfortable. Breathe in the fresh air, exhale negativity. You wouldn't worry so much about what people are thinking of you, if you knew how little they did! So, just do it! When you sit there thinking of reasons why you can't exercise, you are sabatoging yourself. Take the first step - out the door. Go Girl!!!

Weight Watchers. In my opinion it's still the best program there is. You will eat healthy, well balanced meals. On Weight Watchers you are not deprived of anything so it's an eating plan you'll be able to stick to. Two girls I work with ( both with a fairly substantial amount of weight to lose ) went on Weight Watchers about 2 years ago and it was amazing to see them slowly shrinking week after week. They both reached their goal weights and have kept it off and look great! As the pounds start to come off you are going to start to feel so good about yourself you won't be embarrased to go out for a walk , in fact you'll probably look forward to getting out and doing some physical activities. The reason I recommend Weight Watchers is that 20 years ago I was in the same place you are now! I was overweight all my life and then finally when I was about 20 I joined Weight Watchers. I was really ready to commit to the program and lose the weight. And guess what! I lost 45 pounds and I've kept it off! If you do go on the Weight Watchers program I really suggest that you join a group and attend the weekly meetings and weigh-ins. I think that was the key for me. Instead of focusing on a large amount of weight ( 45 pounds ) I just focused on the weigh-in and the goal of maybe 1 or 2 pounds lost each week. That way it didn't seem like an overwhelming or impossible amount of weight to lose. And sure enough, over time those 1-2 pounds kept coming off and all of a sudden I was at my goal weight! Also by going to the weekly meetings you'll find yourself among supportive people who are going through, or have been through, the same experience as you. It does cost a little to join and there is a weekly fee for the meetings but I think it's still pretty reasonable compared to a lot of programs, and well worth it. If I could do it, believe me, you can do it! Good Luck!

Oh ,and 45 lbs. was a large amount of weight for me to lose because I'm only 5' tall.

Dia had some really good ideas. You're not going to lose the weight if you don't get out and do something - though I don't know where ya live, so it could be cold. Do you get FitTV? I started my weight loss this summer with Gilad's Total Body Sculpt. That's a great channel to motivate yourself with - even if you can't follow the moves of the show, you can do your own toned down versions. The first step though is really cutting down your eating habits. To maintain the weight you are at, you must be eating a lot already - so cut it down to 2000 max a day, and eat as many fresh foods as you can - I also LOVE Lean Pockets (chicken fajita and pepperoni pizza flavor are GOOD!) and Lean Cuisines. They're very inexpensive. But just stick to natural foods ... and I really hope you do try to lose the weight, because you could kill yourself by weighing so much. No one wants to see you suffer like that.

Hey, it's almost New Years. What a great time to make a resolution to lose weight! I wish you the best of luck in it.

You really have to look at two areas of your life and adjust them to match your goals:

* Diet
* Exercise

You simply can't get around these two facts. You have to consume fewer calories than you burn each day to loose weight. So if you don't change your diet, then you'll have to exercise more. Frankly, it's easier to adjust both things. Eat less, or eat smarter and exercise moderately. You don't have to go overboard. A 20 minute walk around the block is exercise.

Find someone who can share the goal with you. Another overweight friend who will walk with you. That helps a lot. You can encourage each other.

Well for me personally I used and am still using a natural and healthy no diet weight loss plan as I have not yet reached my goal. I am not skipping meals nor am I buying or eating special foods. I still eat normal foods and use the plan in conjunction with what I eat and lose weight. It has helped me tremendously and I do not exercise either because physically I can not so this plan has worked well for me. Best of luck to you and I know what you are going through, I am 45 and just now getting my life and my health back. so you can see it's never too late

Lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks??

There are some websites on the Internet, which promise you that you are going to lose 10 pounds in every 2 weeks. If you are good in math you will find that keeping these stats in mind, 260 pounds in a year. Losing 260 pounds is the figure, which is unbelievable and unexpected.

This kind of claims are planned just to cause clients to make impulsive decisions. When you gain weight, did you gained around 50 minds in two months? Certainly not. We gain weight in weight in small parts, which add up to our weight. This keeps on increasing with time.

I think you get what I mean to say. We normally gain weight in grams like 65 gram per week. With this stat you are going to gain around 7 pounds at the end of year.

This weight is so slow that you cannot measure it weekly. But in fur years you are going to gain around 28 pounds.

So how can you expect this weight to go in few days? You are going to lose the way you have gained it. So it will take time to lose weight. So you have to start losing weight systematically. You can lose weight by developing the good eating habits in you and nutritious foods.

Well you really shouldn't be embarrassed to walk around your neighborhood. Let the people stare! It'll give you a motivation, to show them your progress. And instead of trying to hide, workout with friends or neighbors! Much more fun that way.

One thing, cut back on your diet. The minimum calories anyone should get is 1200, I think now.

How about this: get a dog! You can walk it around the block several times daily, and progress to jogging and even running! I'm sure the dog will love this and it won't seem so embarrasing to you (you're not excersising... juts walking your dog ;) )

Best of luck to you!!!
