this guy I liked told me that my independence made me unattractive (all I did was NOT ask him to help me move some furniture). Why would a guy who likes me say that?

he prefers needy women cause they can boost his ego better than someone strong and independent like you...look for someone who appreciates your strengths and your beauty.

Maybe he means that you are trying to be independent so much that it is obvious to him that you are actually going out of your way to never ask for help. That can be a turn off too! Never try and be somebody you are not, just relax and be who you are. If you really don't ever want help from anyone than that is you and you shouldn't be bothered by him saying that. But is it possible that he can tell that you are not being "real" with yourself? Just a thought.

i'm a girl, but it seems to me that he probably didn't mean what he said. in fact, he probably meant the opposite. he probably just was wanting you to ask him for help. it would have given him a chance to spend more time with you. as much as guys say women are confusing, they are just as confusing.
