Everyone gets upset but some people pull out of it and some people shut down because of it. My BF used to work with amputees in Walter Reed and that was hard. Alot of these guys were young and just beginning their adult life. I remember hearing both kinds of stories. The ones that cant even talk they are so depressed, and the ones that smile and work hard through therapy and have a "glass half full" atitude. There is alot that they can do for amputees nowadays. Technology and prosthetics has come a long way. It's alot of work to get used to them. But it's not the end of the world. We are seeing more amputees because of better armor on our soldiers. We have a lower death rate but a higher injury rate. I hope this helps.
