wattage, they are working on a household microwave heating system - the unit uses only seven watts, so it isn't dangerous, the drawback so far is that all your furniture would stay cold since microwaves oscillate water molecules to produce heat

11/24/06 6:37 pm If you are speaking in scientific terms, I have very little knowledge, but here's the little I know.
There are radiowaves continually running thru the air. There are short wavelengths and long wavelengths. Ask a ham operator.
AM radio is on one wavelength/FM on another/shortwave/on another, Scanners on another. Different wavelengths are assigned to different uses. For instance Internet Broadband
(I do believe) is the widest broadcasting wavelength there is.
This is a transmission path that is laid across the top of the
high tower transmittion lines. It does not touch the lines but
somehow travels in ther same path as they do.
There is no difference between a microwave and microwave oven. A microwave oven is just a square container with metal inside to stop the radiowaves from leaving the container.
As I understand it, micro/ are the shortest wavelengths. And when they are put in a small container, they bounce around and agitate. If food is in their, they agitate the food--and the agitation stirs up the molecules and in turn the entire food.
I'm probably missing the boat on several points, But a radio
technician would have to fill in the fine points.

Microwave ovens use microwave energy to heat or cook food in a fraction of the time needed to cook with conventional ovens. Unlike conventional ovens, a microwave oven heats food without applying external heat. An oven generates heat via a burner (gas or electric) that is radiated throughout the oven to a certain temperature. This heat then cooks the food from the outside in, as the heat radiates into the food. An oven cooks the food a lot better. it may be a little slower but the food tastes a lot better and its cooked more evenly. a microwave oven is just a microwave. so you can cook food really fast but depending on what it may not work as well as an oven and it may not taste as good. oh and ovens you can set to specific temps, microwaves you can't really do that.
