My 3 1/2 year old daugther goes to bed at 8:00pm. I know it's hard, but try not to let her nap at 4:00 if she won't nap sooner in the day, then put her down earlier... like 7:00pm or so.... keep doing this until her internal routine changes. My daughter likes to take long naps during the day, too, but I always wake her up by 4:30 so she will go to bed at 8:00!

She sounds like she's running the show. I've got four under 10 yrs old, and for that age, you need to determine when naptime will be, not her. My kids have napped until they were around 4-5 yrs old (their best naps usually happen between 11 and 1).
First off, don't let her stay up until 10:00. Start the bedtime routine at 6:30. After bathing, unwind. Read to her. She'll calm down, especially once she has a routine. Sounds like you don't have a routine, which may be part of the problem. My 4 yr old goes to bed at about 7:30. That time may not work for your schedule (how your house runs, what time dinner gets started / finished, when dad/mom gets home from work, etc...). Work with it, and be consistent. It will make life easier for all!!! Good luck!

I don't think she should have the late afternoon nap, because that's obviously why she misses the family dinner and is up until 10, maybe giving her a nap right after launch and having her in bed at like 7:45, 8 might help with your situation.

Wake her earlier than 7 try waking her @ 6:30 am then take her for a walk or play outside with her after lunch for at least 30 minutes. When you come in lie on the couch with her and read to her she should fall asleep or at least rest for 30 minutes. Then after dinner give her a bath to help relax her for the night. Works every time! Just because the weather is getting colder doesn't mean you can't play outside. The crisp fresh air makes little ones tired. I have a 16 month old who gets up between 6:30 and 7 am every morning. we walk the older ones to school for 8:30 when we get hope she is ready for a nap by 9 am...... the fresh air does it.

really the nap time should move up at least an hour and nap should not be longer than 2 hr. will be up for dinner and family time.
most kids start shifting sleep times between 3 and 4 yrs. if planning daycare/preschool, they always nap between 1 and 3 usually because of school age kids coming back around 3:30 or so. also have lite snack time after naps too.

as hard as this is going to be, you really do need to change her sleep schedule. she cant do it on her own. as you must know 4pm is to late for her to be taking a nap. so, after lunch at about 1pm. lay her down to take a nap. give her about a half an hour to fall asleep. if she is unable too. then make her stay awake, don't let her lay down to nap at 3-4pm. instead the two of you go out side and play or go for a walk. and i don't mean you pushing her in a stroller.hold her hand and have her walk with you. then after dinner, play with her, give her a bath, read her a story, and lay her down for bed by 8pm. she is going to get grumpy, when you don't let her take her nap when she is use too. but missing dinner with the family is not good, nor is her staying up late. before you know it she will be going to pre school.so she will need a better schedule than she has now. so get her use to it. besides her being in bed by 8pm. gives you some much needed peace, and relaxation.

It really depends what kind of day time schedule she has. My children were both in bed by 9 at that age- had a nap around 2 and were up at 5-6- so it seems she has about the same amount of time- just a different routine.

My son is 3 and a 1/2 as well. I stopped giving him naps just before he turned 3 years old. That helped out a lot as far as bedtime goes, plus he sleeps through the entire night. Just stop putting your little one down for a nap in the daytime. Its not something that will happen over night, but believe me, it'll work out great. Stick to a schedule as well. Start putting her to bed for the night at around 8pm. My son goes to bed at 8pm and wakes up at 8am. Some days he might wake up a bit earlier, but hes always in bed at 8pm. Hope this helps!
