HaHaHaHa!!! France could hardly pose a military threat to themselves let alone the U.S. It's true they do have some nuclear capability and that could be construed as a threat. But... first they'd have to design new uniforms that looked good in a war bu twere real fancy with lots of gold braid. Then they'd have to decide which wine went well with war. Perhaps a Bordeax for attacking and a white wine for surrendering. They better lay in a good supply of the white because they're real good at surrendering.

No, not directly that is, but they could have sold some of
their nuclear technology to the enemies of her allies.
Take for example the Falkland Islands war between England and Argentina. England was informed that the
Argentinians have bought some Excocets ATS missiles
from the French but the know how have not been transfered yet. After a few british war ships were sunk
and many lives lost by the Excocets, the French with
tongue in cheek said that the Argentinians must have
got the technologies from their civilian engineer but it
proves that the Excocets does work to their expectations.
Reminds me of the chinese saying, "your closest friend
friend could be your worst enemy".

Only in their advisors, technology and intelligence they provide to other countries like they were dealing with Iraq, stalling any UN action all the while Annan's son was bilking the food for oil program and diverting money into advanced weapons for Iraq that were in themselves violations of UN resolutions to possess. Nobody trusts the French government because it has been known to be a fickle thing anyways. As far as an effective fighting force goes, they would protect France but would be apathetic about fighting for the sake of any other real estate in the world (historically), mercenaries excepted of course. But here we are seeking a peaceful resolution to the spread of nuclear arms, particularly Iran, and there is France (and Russia) again trying to stop or slow the UN from doing anything meaningful. How Saddam Hussein was surprised by our attack is he was counting on the USA discussing plans with France or Russia first, who would immediately warn him. Bush was smarter than that, and of course they hate him for not confiding in them. But ironically, their own lack of will has left France vulnerable to invasion and conquest and within reach of nuclear missiles from the Middle East, so they may yet again come begging to the USA for help in liberating French soil, something they have never hesistated sacrificing American lifes for.

France doesn't pose a military threat to a

France hasn't been a military threat for a long time to anybody. They have made many great planes, but nobody to fly them. Other than selling poisoned wine or expired cheese, I don't think they could do much.

No....in fact France is the only major European power that the United States has not been at war with during its history.

England - Revolutionary War, War of 1812
Germany - WWI and WWII
Spain - Spanish American War
Italy - WWI and WWII

Ha, ha, ha, ha! That's a good one! To paraphrase Gen. Patton, I'd much rather have a German tank division in front of me than a French army behind me.

Google search "French military victories" and click the "I'm feeling lucky" button.

By the way:

*We had to bail France out in WWI.
*We had to bail France out in WWII.

Does this answer your question? If they actually attacked us, they'd probably surrender afterward.

France does have a nuclear arsenal and they have not placed their nukes under control of the NATO. So, technically they can be a treat, however they're mostly harmless.

Only by selling military hardware to those who are our enemies.\
They have been a major arms supplier, why do you think they oppose us at ever turn?
They don't want the people they are selling arms to, to figure out how inferior the weaponary they are buying really is.
