If a guys hits your g/f and she goes to hit him back would you hold her back and tell her to calm down?? If, not what would you do?? Would you stick up for her or your friend??

It was serious. Guys don just come up and punch the most popular girl in school. I am a lax player so I have no problem fighting back. I wanted to beat the crap out of him but my b/f was like let me handle it. Should I be mad he wouldn't let me fight back??

Noone has the right to hit someone else first, even if they're provoked. If he keeps hitting your friend and she's in danger, she has the right to defend herself, but only to the point when he stops. Otherwise, things get worse...but you know that already.
You and your g/f need to find better friends than the guy who hit your g/f, and you all need to grow up and handle your emotions and relationships, without violence.

He has no right to hit a girl, and yes if he hit me I'd pick up the closest thing and bash his head in. Sorry just the way I feel, and yes sounds like his big fat ego was injured. Tell him to cry you a river.
