I went to a dermatologist because of this and she prescribed a cream, but I cannot think of the name. Shaving in the direction of the hair growth worked better for me than the cream. It doesn't provide a close shave but I don't get the bumps anymore.

I'm a guy and don't shave my legs and I had this problem with regular shaving. First of all, don't shave against the hairs, only along with them. Use very gentle cream and high quality razors. Shower or bathe first, it makes the hairs softer. What worked wonders for me is to combine shaving cream with an electric shaving machine that is water proof and can be used for "wet" shaving. That really helped. Other than that, maybe you could consider using something different like wax. I've seen commercials for Feet and it looks good. And if this really is a big problem, go see a doctor. Maybe they know some solutions. There's laser treatment for example. But that and other more advanced option you really need to run by your doctor, before you end up with something permanent that is worse than razor burn... Some people recommend using a good creme afterwards and you can test that. My experience is that if the problem begins, trying to put out the "fire" with a cream doesn't work very much. It's better to have it not happen to begin with. About the sweating, that is also a good question for your doc. I hope this helps!

Make sure that the razor is sharp, try using bump fighter shaving cream, and you can also try bump stopper cream. You can get them from the beauty supply store or in the black hair section of walmart.

There are some lotions for razor bumps at the beauty supply stores (Sally) just where the waxes are.You should try that.or simply apply some zinc oxide cream(at any drug store) at the affected area ,that should sooth the redness.

Try Monistat Soothing Care to soothe the irritated areas. You can also use it after shaving. Monistat Soothing Care is available in Wal Mart or your local pharmacy. I use it all the time and it works great! Here are the details to the product:

They have different types of products such as cream, spray, gel, etc. I recommend the gel... Find one that's suitable for your cousin. Hope this helps...Good luck and best wishes...

stop shaving as often. she should also exfoliate. that helps. one good exfoliant is brown sugar and olive oil.. or she should try to wax.. that doesnt cause razor bumps.
