Hey,
I am a member of the United States Navy. This question should have a follow up question because it definitely depends on your preference. I am obviously going to go with the USN mostly because the Rates we offer transfer into the Civilian sector and most sailors can make a career coming out of the Navy. When you ask which branch is the toughest, its a very wide question because it all comes down to whether you mean physcially, which is trained more harsh than the other? We are all tough in our own ways. The SEALs are a very tough spec ops rank to achieve and overcome, they are trained mentally and physically to a high extreme. Also, Hooah is the Army's saying. Oorah is Marines and Hooyah is Navy.

Not one is better than the other. Not one branch can win a war soley by itself. The Airforce has the technology, the aircraft, the Combat Controllers, Pararescue, and the nukes. The Army has the Rangers, Berets, and the majority of the ground forces. The Navy has the carriers, they own the water, they have the SEALS. The Marines in their own right are a Spec. Ops. group of their own. Alone each is awesome, together with out stupid restrictions, they are unstoppable. But then again the best pay and best toys are in the Air Force, just speaking as one who served in the Air Force.

Navy Seals are the toughest trained, yet the Air Force pilot rescue team and Army special forces are also very elite. As far a non-special forces, I would say Marines, Army, Navy, then Air Force would be the most physical in that order, but I would reverse that order for choices for technical skills required.
All are great and do their jobs as required.
I am not including foreign military services, but I would put the RAF SAS as the most elite outside the US.

Now more than ever we all seem to work together to accomplish our missions. Marines on board Navy vessels, Coast Guard escorting Navy submarines through the Panama Canal, Air Force transporting Army personnel to their patrol area. We may have some good hearted fun at each other's expense but we all have our strengths and weaknesses and together the five United States military forces are the best on this earth.

It depends on what you want from the military and the environment you want to work in. Each service has a different culture based on the mission that they perform. And it depends on if you are looking to be an officer or enlisted and if you are male or female and a lot of other factors. The best way to find out is to go and talk to all the recruiters but go there with your objective in mind, what are you looking for,
Money for college?
Vocational Training?
To be in the military - career?
Do you want to travel?
Do you want to live overseas?
What are the skills you are bringing?
What skills to you want the military to teach you?
I am afraid you will get just biased opinion because everyone will tell you their branch if they like it and another branch which they have never been a part of, is better, if they don't like their branch.
I'm in the Navy so I like it best because it suits me, my husband is Army because it suits him best, so we each say our respective branch is best.

america Air stress by utilising far is the final military branch to connect. the final standards are the optimum and how of existence is plenty extra suitable. the effort-free of your preparation would be plenty extra suitable, the food is served out of a "eating" hall, no longer a "mess" or "chow" hall and the barracks, pronounced as dorms interior the AF, are plenty nicer, than different branches. I spent approximately 8 years interior the AF and enjoyed it! a number of my preparation, substitute into on military bases and that i've got the utmost admire for the army, however the AF is extra advantageous, the two short and long term.

Sorry BUD, SEALS may be bad *** but they are not a branch of the military you're still a squid
U.S.M.C all the way!
FYI the Marine Corp turned the SEALS down that's why they are in the NAVY.
Believe it or not the French Foreign Legion are pretty bad *** as well
As for the Air Force, they have the best food and prettiest girls!

I know a 10th of what my son went through to be an Army Ranger - it kept him alive and well in Iraq so thats good enough for me. Rangers all the way......
Personally I loved my time in the Navy but I was stateside during peace time and had a blast sailing the Atlantic. Never met a seal so can't say .........

Are you a wannabee Seal? The Seals is not a military branch. It is part of the Navy and Marine Corp branches.
