Why on earth would they make up a National Insurance Number??!

I'd be finding out which tax office the company use and be giving them a ring, you do realise that if you have been paying NI contributions that this needs sorting out immediately as your contributions won't be going towards you pension?

I hope you've kept your wage slips/P60's - it's your only proof of what contributions have been paid and under what NI number.

Sometimes a temporary number is used. This begins TN and the figures are your date of birth. It is used where the employee has not provided the proper number and is only temporary. It is necessary because most of the computer systems require the entry of a NI number.

If your number is like this then give the employer the correct number immediately.

If it is not a temporary number then it is likely that your contributions are being credited to someone else. Ask your employer about this unless you think they put the wrong number deliberately. If this is so then you should let the national insurance office in Newcastle know. Send them copies of your P60s and ask for your contributions to be allocated to you.

My advice is that if at all possible financially resign asap. You don't want an employer like this. Then you take this out matter up with an industrial tribunal. You would have an open and shut case of constructive dismissal. You would need to discuss the NI matter with the relevant government department.

You need to do something about this, because this sounds like the sort of employer who might have been deducting PAYE tax and national insurance, and then pocketing it instead of handing it on to the relevant authorities. I don't want to scare you, but maybe those authorities could chase you for the money they are owed - I don't know the answer to that one.. You could start at the Citizen's Advice Bureau.

Its illegal for them to pay you slighly you can notify the Inland Revenue the company that the person is working for will have a pay e number meaning you can notify the Inland Revenue directly to their tax fraud team, and tell them and shop the company and they will conduct an investigation the persons accounts of the wages or the manager of the companys accounts and structures.
