Hi there...sounds like your kitty has found a schedule of his own. There are many possibilities as to why he may be waking you up at this particular time of night. Has anything in the distant or near past always occured around this time that was either frightening or pleasant? For example many cats who are fed at a scheduled time will learn when to expect their meals, the family members come home and leave for day, etc. It's more of a conditioned response which is being reinforced...and is why I'm making this assumption.

If you would like to change/adjust his schedule to yours consider playing with the kitty 10-15 minutes prior to bedtime to exhaust him so he'll sleep longer. If your cat isn't free fed (food available at all times) some people who feed their cats on schedule (once in the morning and once at night) have found that by feeding just before bedtime also note that this has a sedating effect because their tummy's are full.

Thought I was reading my own story! I have the same thing, but at 9:30 precisely every morning. The snuggling, purring in my face etc. The bites are on my nose though. It was cute when she was a baby, but now that she's 3, she bites hard sometimes! I have to sleep with the sheets over my face in the morning. Chalk it up to kitty behaviour. No sense trying to figure it out.

Usually, cats are creatures of habit, so it might just be his habit to wake you up at that time. And, he may think of you as his favorite, which would explain why you're the only one he does it to.

Though, I might think about going to a sleep clinic if you can arrange it, just to get checked out. Cats are protective of the ones they love, so if he thinks something could be wrong, he'll try to wake you up. And, getting checked out to make sure you're sleeping well isn't a bad idea for anyone, anyway.

It sounds like your cat is punctual and likes order and consistancy. He does it at the same time because thats what works for him. He gets pleasure out of it so why would he bother with a different time if 2:30 works?
He is getting his snuggle time with you and showing his affection and marking you so everyone else (even if there isn't anyone) that you are his.
He is thinking "I love you"

If you take note, cats usually have a schedule. They usually sleep at the same time every day, clean themselves at around the same time and so on. I have 4 cats and they all nap at the same time, they all clean themselves and each other at the same time and so forth. (That is providing some outside force doesn't interrupt the normal routine. My guess is that he wakes up at that time from his usual cat nap and wants some love.

As far as why just you.... Cats are not pack animals like dogs are. In a place with mutiple cats, they usually pair up with just one other cat. Likewise with people, they pick one and pair up with them. In our house Midnight and Stash are my cuddle bums. Trubles and princes are my husband's cuddle bums.
