i have a problem... it has been going on for almost four years now and it is at the point where i really need to do something about it.

i am a 21 year old 6ft female who weighs almost 19 stone (im not particularly ugly, i do look in proportion) but whenever i feel lonely (which is often, i eat) and i will tell myself that it is just for the day and everything will be fine tomorrow but it never is.

i have been single for almost 2 years now and although i have had a couple of one night stands and have texted guys nothing ever seems to come of it so therefore i feel lonely, followed bby the continual eating.

does anyone know any good ways of losing weight fast? when i am happy i stop eating like this i just need to be happy again, this is a viscious circle that i don't feel i can get out of without serious help but being told to eat less is not the answer!

please help!

Hi, the problem with diet pills---and with diets---is that the body adapts quickly and resists losing weight. Eating more protein helps by stimulating a hormone that reduces hunger. Carbohydrates stimulate hunger biochemically.

Regarding drugs, Wellbutrin is more effective than Meridia or Xenical (and these are both expensive, and insurance doesn't cover them and they doen;t work very well) and it is very well known as a succesfull drug that works for a lot of people with not many side effects. A combination of wellbutrin and another drug (zonisamide) is being developed by Orexigen in San Diego. Both drugs are already being used as therapeutics and it turns out that when taken together in the right dose, etc. it is VERY effective for weight loss, and it looks like it will be an OK drug to take in terms of not having bad side effects. Why is a combination good? Becasue when you lose weight, the body has multiple ways of sensing this and interprets that the dieter is "starving" and starts turning up the appitite to make sure the dieter doesn't starve. This reaction is biochemical and it doesn't matter if the person weighs 110 lbs or 310 lbs. The combination of the two drugs is because the first drug stimulates the biochemistry so we are not hungry and the second one keeps it from being shut down when the body senses we are losing weight.

A totally new drug has been approved in Europe (rimonabant) but I think it has some seriously bad side effects and the FDA has delayed approving here, probably with good reason.

Byetta is a new drug from last year for diabetics that has been successful for people to lose weight if they are diabetic, but it is an injectable, and I have read that it gets old having to inject it everyday. Merck just released an oral drug that is similar, but it does not have the weightloss effect, apparently.

Relacore and corti-slim, etc. I think are probably false advertising, also Hoodia, is probably fake.

Caffeine is OK - but be careful about drinking soft drinks sweetened with high fructose corn syrup. Fructose is metabolized in the body is a way that does not register calories-- you still feel hungry and thirsty--and if you have extra weight on you, you are insulin resistant, your body will respond biochemically by wanting more. This can lead to overeating calories really fast.

If your body has extra fat, it wants to add more, biochemically. If you have fat, your body wants you to make more fat. It is the way human beings are engineered. Once you are overweight, your body wants you to get fatter. It is a survival mechanism left over from the Ice Ages and caveman days when there was not much food around, and sending it to fat was the best way to keep it.

Most important thing is not to gain weight any more weight. If you do, get it off immediately. Prevention is the best way to deal with the extra weight problem.

I sympathise and I remember another just like you a while back. I suppose the brutal answer is that if you are serious about losing weight you must get out of the house and not take any food with you and spend time out, maybe window shopping or even meeting some new people. Anything that keeps you away from food.

You must also try to keep as mobile as possible. If you exercise when you feel hungry or feel like eating, the increased heart rate is usually sufficient to put you off binge eating. Drink plenty of fluids too. This is a good way of filling up the stomach to make it expect less food.

I'm not an expert but these things seem like common sense long as you take it easyish.

good luck

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Get started today!

Hun, you didn't gain that weight fast, why do you think you can lose it so quickly. There is no rapid weight loss that is long term. The important thing is to find something to do...replace one habit with another...instead of eating, do something to keep busy. I know it is difficult to break something that makes you feel good, but in the end, after you've eaten, you feel worse. When you're lonely, go out, go for a walk, join a gym, do something that makes you feel good all around. Stay positive..eating right and exercising will work in losing weight, but the road is a long one. Don't give up, and stay focused on how good you will feel when you are thinner.

Personally for me I am using a natural and healthy no diet weight loss plan. This plan allows me to eat normal foods as I just do the plan just before I eat. I do not skip meals nor do I buy or eat special foods. This plan has given me my life and my health back even without exercise as I physically can not. I have also implemented a natural and healthy energy drink into my life that has helped as well. I can send you a FREE sample if you would like. One last thing, this plan does help reduce your appetite and it is very easy to use. Best of luck 2 you in finding the new you and I know YOU CAN because I did and I'm 45

Lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks??

There are some websites on the Internet, which promise you that you are going to lose 10 pounds in every 2 weeks. If you are good in math you will find that keeping these stats in mind, 260 pounds in a year. Losing 260 pounds is the figure, which is unbelievable and unexpected.

This kind of claims are planned just to cause clients to make impulsive decisions. When you gain weight, did you gained around 50 minds in two months? Certainly not. We gain weight in weight in small parts, which add up to our weight. This keeps on increasing with time.

I think you get what I mean to say. We normally gain weight in grams like 65 gram per week. With this stat you are going to gain around 7 pounds at the end of year.

This weight is so slow that you cannot measure it weekly. But in fur years you are going to gain around 28 pounds.

So how can you expect this weight to go in few days? You are going to lose the way you have gained it. So it will take time to lose weight. So you have to start losing weight systematically. You can lose weight by developing the good eating habits in you and nutritious foods.

Yes i do........i am 22 with the same problem, i am 17 stone as with having 2 kids and probs in pregnancy the weight has piled on, and with having them close together and havent slept in 4 months im tired and busy so find it hard. My mum join this club........called sure slim. She piled on the weight big style too without being able to loose it. Anyways....this club is fantastic, they take you in with a one off payment and send you to the hospital for blood tests and then make you a personalised diet to suit your body, it retrains your body how to digest food and therefore not putting any weight on, i joined too last month and have lost over one stone, it is incredibly safe and they are with you one on one until you loose the weight, they estimated me to be 10 stone by next september!! Cant believe it!! It is a strict diet and you have to eat every 5 hours, for example 8am, 1pm then 5/6pm, my mum had a mac donalds and lots of sweets in her first week and lost 4 pounds!! It costs a staggering £390, but as i said htis is a one off payment, if you tot up 18 months of weight watchers or slimming world it works out the same.

My mum and i have tried every diet, but with nothing, everyone we meet on this diet has lost all connection with comfort eating and are well on the way to a happy contented life.

I would look into it, maybe arrange an appointment to discuss it. I am breastfeeding at the moment and its still working a treat, and also my baby seems more satisfied, good luck!! I hope all goes well, and remember to stay happy...............remember your young!! You'll get there!!

First, I think it's obvious that you're an emotional eater (many of us are). It would be wise for you to seek professional help to get to the root of why you're seeking comfort from food.

In the mean time try a distraction. Think before you eat. Think "am I hungry?". Then drink a large glass of water. If you're still hungry 5 minutes later then drink another glass of water and take a long walk. If you're still hungry after that, eat. But try to eat something healthy. Good luck.

Many common natural remedies are claimed to have blood sugar lowering properties that make them useful for people with or at high risk of diabetes. Learn here https://tr.im/N6U9X

A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.

Hi,my advice would be to see your G.P. There may be a medical reason for your weight problem and its best to get checked out.If he or she is a good G.P. he will probably give you a short check up and maybe a blood test as well.Follow things up after the tests and ask for diet advice on diet and your self esteem (I know how you feel,I was overweight due to the medication for a bad back). When I changed medication my weight came off slowly.Good luck, your G.P. is there to promote health as well, please dont suffer in silence there are health professionals employed to help ladies like you.
