YES, it could be possible that is what they are trying to do.

I don't believe so, because I don't believe that the presence of American troops makes one iota of difference.
The problem is that as much as we might have hated Sadaam Hussein, he was a military strongman who held all the various religious sects together (through persecution and torture!) Once that is gone and a weak central government like al-Maliki's takes over, it becomes a free for all as we're seeing in the past two days.
These killers do care about human life, but only their own religious sect. Thus you see people being burned up alive in front of policemen and the policemen do nothing. Obviously the victims were not from their sect.
I do wish, though, that Americans would stop making generalizations that all Muslims are killers and just ought to be nuked (i have seen some posters pose this question on Yahoo Answers and in Yahoo News.) Do we seriously think that Muslims have been the only people to ever kill their own countrymen because they were "different"? History is full of examples of this, including our very own genocide of Native Americans by European settlers. So, get off your high horse and realize that the way the Iraqis are behaving is how mankind has behaved throughout history.

No they are basically killing Iraqis due to the fact of them belonging to different sects of the same religion. Iranians and Syrians are pouring into Iraq as insurgents to help restore one sect to power instead of the new government - the easiest way to over power your enemy is to kill them all off.
So glad Muslim is a "peaceful" religion. There could be bloodbaths in the streets if they weren't.
Can hardly wait for the UN to embrace Iran and Syria's peace plan for Iraq and take over control there so our troops can come home. Another mess for the US to clean up in a few years , if there is anyone left.

Hi, My husband spent the last 18 months all over Iraq and the hell that it is. You have to understand that to these people extreme Islam is their entire life. They will kill anyone including themselves to prove to Allah that they are worthy of him. These people do not care about anyone. They are trying to make it to the 'heaven' that is promised to them. My husband saw innocent families murdered because the fathers began working for the U.S. military (the highest paying job in Iraq). Most of these Iraqis are so greatful for the Americans. They fear these extremists. They want to have a normal life for their children. Do you think the news is going to report that? Of course not. I've seen pictures of Iraqi men shaking hands with American soldiers and children saluting at them in awe. My husband worked with some very poor Iraqi men (most are extremely poor). He had an old style walkman but no batteries. My husband went to the px and purchased this young man some batteries. The young Iraqi man began to cry.
So to answer your question. These extremists will kill anyone. Their entire point is to one day take over the world, the way it was in the beginning when the Muslims had majority rule.

Your summation is somewhat naive. It is a lot more complicated than you would like to believe. The same goes for JAYSWIFE who identifies herself by her husband's existence and not her own - that says it all!
Firstly, you all, including BUSH totally underestimate the nature of the religious feud and quest for revenge by Suni vs Siite and Siite against Suni. They are as Jayswife points out ferevent about tgheir religion and religious differences will undoubtedly spark a civil war. Most the people with power, that means the CLERICS have much more power than BUSH and the US military in relation to the possibility of a misconceived "democracy". Those poor American soldiers, getr one tearful and GRATEFUL Iraqis waving and posing with them, because they do wish in some ways that they can have cosy warm beds at home, like Jayswife, and taht their kids can go to school without fear of a bomb blast along the way!!! But that is not the bif picture and nor is it the reality over tens of thousands of years of inner fighting, Why do you think Saddam ruled with an iron fist. Not that I think it was right. But I tell you if I were an Iraqi, I would rather have my family alive and Saddam in power than what is going on now in Iraq.... SO Jays wife where was Jay today when those Suni's took the Shiites out of their homes, poured Kerosene over them and burnt them alive? Was he giving his walkman batteries to another tearful Iraqi?
The killings are not being done by insugents they are beong done by competeing factions. They do not give a S h i t about more AMericans being flushed out , as tere are enough to kill anyway.
Jayswife, I mean you no harm you are naive and I sure hope your husband comes home safely. I support the troops I want this war to end. There will never be peace in atht region if we stay.

Anyone who does not believe as a radical islamist does is an infidel. The label of Innocent Iraqi's or American/Coalition soldiers have no bearing when it comes to destroying the infidels.

There are no insurgents in Iraq. That's a myth promoted by Republicans and the conservative controlled media.
The people killing our soldiers are ordinary Iraqi citizens who want us to get out of their country.
A recent poll showed 80% of Iraqis want us out.
