It saddens me to see people who lie constantly. It is such a let down..I can't help but think that the reason they do it, is because of their own feelings of insecurity...Now I don't mean, 'stretching' the truth, or embelleshing on things..I mean, flat out lying about their circumstances,...lying about how terrible their lives are for pity...anything that tugs at your heart strings to manipulate you, and then you find out that they were a wolf in sheeps clothing...Why do you think they lie? Besides it being a terrible sin,...???

Well, i may not know everything. but i do know one thing: the reason we lie is very simple. I don't know if you believe in God, but here goes. Satan came into this world, and told the first lie in the history of the Earth. And now, Satan is controlling the world. I am not saying that he is controlling the people who are in charge, but he IS in control of alot of things that are happening. Very soon, Jesus will come again. When that time comes will you guys be ready?

One thing I know, EVERYBODY lies. We have been taught to by society and by our parents. Some people are just better at it than others and so it doesn't appear that they lie because we don't catch them at it.

Anytime we behave differently around people we want to impress, we are lying. Anytime we don't tell someone how we really feel we are lying.

How many people say that the reason they were late was because of the traffic? That's a lie 99 times out of 100. If I were going to pay you one million dollars to be on time, what do you think the odds were you would be on time?

Human beings lie. We just do. We can lie less and less (it is called integrity) or we can lie more and more (almost always from insecurity and fear), but we all do it.

So, when you catch others around you in a lie just realize that it is simply human nature. People of high integrity (those that lie very little) can be found in all walks of life. But even they lie on occasion.

We don't like to admit it when we lie, but until we recognize how much each of us does it, we are just lying to ourselves about it. Best to just own up to it and at least then we are one step closer to integrity.

I believe that people lie because they may believe that if they tell the truth it might hurt someone's feelings. They also lie because for some reason they may feel that telling the truth will in some way make them feel stupid and also may make them appear as not being very smart. Alot of times when people lie, if you think about they don't even know what theyre talking about but as long as what they are saying sounds intelligent and makes them appear as if their smarter than they are, then thats why they lie.

I do understand how you feel, I have a friend that lies when I ask him a question that I don't know the answer to, and instead of him just saying he doesn't know; he'll tell me some lie just to make huimself seem smart. Personally, I feel that if you lie and willfully know it, then it actually makes you look stupid.

People also lie just to start a conversation, sometimes their lives aren't very exciting, so the'll lie and make up something about themselves to impress other people.

Hope this helped!!

I just read a story today about a couple in New Orleans. A church bought them a house free and clear because they said they lost everything in Hurricane Katrina. The church bought them the house and those people sold it and never lived in it. So those people basically stole $75,000 from the church (what they paid for the house) and sold it for $88,000 and moved to Memphis. Besides betraying everyone's trust, there were other families the church was considering for the purchase, but these people had the best sob story. Now they actually told the church to "take it up with God" in an interview about their outrageous behavior.

Some people are con artists. They are a bit of the sociopath. They have figured how to not have a conscience about how they treat people.
What is worse than gossip is pointing at someone who is sharing their feelings about how someone hurt them and calling them a gossip. In my experience people who call others gossips are usually the one's who are most judgemental and gossipy. This is a place where people are supposed to be honest about their feelings Mr. Toltec Wisdom.

I have been trying to figure this out for 40 years.
Many reasons I guess.
But the bigger Sin according to ancient Toltec Wisdom is Gossip.

i think people lie because the truth often hurts

to lie about having a bad life would make me think this person wants attention from people, they may feel ignored at their home.

It is funny how people think themselves above the animals but I have seen animals with more integrity than the so called "humane"

Ants have more strength and fortitude, we are for sure the weakest species, creating atrocity and labeling it genius.

i dont understand why they do it, i have a friend who did it constantly. i guess she did it unknowingly becuase no matter who told her and got mad at her, she continued. I have been around her lying about health issues, so when I told her about my health problems she thought I was the one lying! The worst part is when they have no problem with themselves.

Beats the dickens out of me. I have literally never lied even once. No...really!

I'm sure they see it as an easier means to their ends. And usually, they're right. Hmmmm.

Trust me on this one. Would I lie to you?
