I don't hate, I strongly dislike.
What? There's still a difference. Everytime I say that I'm only adding another person to my People-Who-Think-I'm-Crazy list

Luke 6:28
bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
Forgive them anyways....... I know it is very very hard but forgiveness is about a decison , not a feeling ... If you don't forgive them then you will carry that on your spirit until you do forgive them and not only that but you are carrying that person's unforgivness as well and then the people that have unfoegivness for them and it can be a huge long chain that you can stop.

...Okay, your first answerer obviously never read her Bible.
I personally am way too lazy to hate anyone. Barring perhaps myself. And besides, it's not a mortal's place to offer forgiveness, but God's. Right?
So many Christians (and other religious fanatics) forget that their gods and saviours preach forgiveness and tolerance and acceptance. They see Jesus saying "love thy neighbor" and they add their own little "only if I feel like it" or "only if he believes exactly what i believe" and THAT is where these people are going wrong.
Never confuse the faith with the supposedly faithful.

I have and you know what? I feel relieved and at peace. You see, the person your hate is directed at goes merrily along his way not really caring whether or not you hate him. The hate you feel does not affect him, it only affects you. It makes you bitter and mean. Let it go, forgive and move forward. It's like being set free.

I forgive myself for it, because when I hate, I hate myself for doing it.

Forgiveness is one of the more difficult things to do in all of our human endeavors.
But if one were truly desirous in attaining a Christ-like behavior and to follow the Teachings of Yeshua Messiah/Jesus Christ [PBUH], then one MUST FORGIVE in order that he or she may also be forgiven their sins by God, as it is mentioned in the Lord's Prayer...
Peace be with you.

We are supposed to but it is so hard. I've prayed for those every
day who have wronged me years ago. Some resentments are gone, others hang on. Maybe with continued perseverence these other resentments will leave. That doesn't mean you have to be trusting and buddies with your enemies. Just let go and let God
and thats easier said than done.

Because when you forgive someone you are saying that you are so worthless that not only is it okay that they did whatever they did, but that they can do it again becasue you don't deserve to be treated any better.
