A hangover (veisalgia) is the sum of unpleasant physical effects following heavy consumption of alcohol. The most common reported characteristics of a hangover are feelings of extreme thirst, lethargy, nausea, sensitivity to sunlight and noise, and headache. Hypoglycemia, dehydration, and vitamin B12 deficiency are all theorized causes of hangover symptoms. Hangover symptoms may be felt for a variable period of time after alcohol consumption, and may persist for a short period of time (12 to 36 hours[1]), or even longer (48 to 72 hours after the last alcoholic drink is consumed[2]).

A hangover is a softer name for alcohol poisoning. Depending on how much you have drank will depend how long you will feel sick. During a hangover, you usually will feel flu-like symptoms....headache, nausea, vomitting, diarrhea, extreme exhaustion.
How many drinks will cause a hangover??? Depends on your tolerance or your bodies ability to process alcohol and the sugars in alcohol.
To prevent a hangover, use great moderation...maybe one drink per hour. Be sure to drink water in between alcoholic drinks and eat a well balanced meal before drinking any alcohol.
Remember to never drink and drive and don't ride with someone who has been drinking.

dehydrated brain cells caused from drinking alcohol...each person is different. I had 12 beers last night and have a hangover today! Throbbing headache, dry mouth and generally a feeling of yukky!! To avoid a hangover it is said if you have a glass of water between drinks works. but i always forget because I'm drunk!! Also if you take an pain killer BEFORE bed that's also meant to work.
