I have lived a very moral life. I give to charity, I've never harmed another living being in my life. I have never cheated on my girlfriend and never will. I don't steal or commit any crimes. I love my mother and treat her with great respect as well as all elders. I try to be a giving person and sensitive to other people's feelings. I am very proud of who I am and I know that I am a very good and moral person despite the fact that I think God doesn't exist.

Let's say that when I die I find out that I was wrong and there really is a God and heaven and hell. Do you think God will send me to hell despite the fact that I am a very good and moral person, just because I doubted that he existed? Wouldn't that make God kind of a jerk??? No offense intended!

Wow, lots of interesting responses, thanks all! Seems like there are 3 basic categories. First the Christians who believe every word of the bible and think Jesus needs to be my savior, hmmm...I will refrain from commenting on that since I was born a Jew (the chosen people, yes!). Second, the believers who keep an open mind and accept my good heart as enough to get me to heaven, thanks guys:) Lastly, my fellow non-believers, rock on and see you in hell, hehe...kidding.

Some responses from Muslims, Buddists, Hindus or other religions would be interesting.

You were probably not looking for an answer from me, but your exact question is why I do not believe in a god of the bible, or any great being who would choose to create this world. Sure the world is amazing but... children suffering, nothing all loving would allow it.

Wow, I was talking with some friends from church recently about this. I also had this feeling deep inside, "what if God didnt exist?" We talked for hours, debating on facts. Our conclusion: Yes, God exists. I'll try to give you some insight on what we went over.

Ok, let's not get too complicated and just give an everyday example. Suppose you got home today, and there was this beautiful chocolate cake with icing and everything, on top of ur table. Now, we have 2 theories of where that cake came from:

1) There was an HEB truck this afternoon going by ur house, and all of a sudden, a car hit it at 70mph, and the truck rolled over violently. There were eggs, flour, all sorts of stuff in the truck, and they all got mixed up in the crash, and the truck caught on fire, and the extreme heat baked all that stuff, and as the truck continued to roll on the street, the stuff flew through ur window and miraculously landed on ur table.

2) Someone who knew how to bake a chocolate cake, went there and did it, and then put it on top of ur table for you.

Which one makes more sense? If you answered #2, good! Then God created the Earth and everything in it. If you prefer to believe in an absurd and very creative theory called "the big bang", in which somehow gases mixed up, just in the right proportion, and then everything exploded and the earth was formed ... my friend, you have a very creative mind. First of all, how were those gases there? Someone must have created it. God. Stuff doesn't just appear.

=D Doesn't that make sense? Ok, now, let's get a lil more complicated.

Scientists say that man evolved from monkeys or whatever their creative mind came up with. Well, it has been proven that over time, living beings only lose genetic material, constantly. Therefore, evolution cannot be possible. The human body is so complex, there is no way it just "evolved" from something. A project called GENOMA, just recently finished their research. Their task: make a complete mapping of the human DNA. Many countries joined forces to complete this project, each taking a body part, like arm, leg, or whatever, and finding out the DNA code for it. Germany was in charge of the human eye. At the end of the project, they said that the human eye was so complex, that there was NO WAY it could have evolved from some other animal. It's a fact. Scientists researched and wrote it down. Aren't they contradicting themselves now? Ok, I believe I made a point on this one. Mankind did not evolve. God made man in His image.

Ok, now back to the big bang stuff. The NASA has been measuring the distance from the Earth to the moon, and it's a fact that every year the moon gets further and further away from the Earth. Fact. It's been proven. It's also a mathematical equation. So, if we take that mathematical equation, and do it backwards, we come up with how long since the earth and the moon we're almost touching. The calculations say something about 10 thousand years. It can't be more than that, otherwise the moon would have been rolling around on the earth.

Also, it's possible to calculate the rate of aging of the Earth. Every year, scientists calculate the rate at which the Earth is aging. It's roughly the same. If we then backtrack how long since the Earth was relatively "new", the calculations vary from 10 to 12 thousand years. It's fact.

Also, the population of the Earth. Today, we have roughly 6.5 billion people alive. Populations, increase in a mathematical progression. In other words, there will always be more people alive today, than there are people dead. Fact. It's not possible to have more people dead than alive. Draw a sketch of a simple family tree, and you'll stumble upon the same conclusion. So, if we backtrack how long since the beggining of population, the results say somewhere between 10 to 12 thousand years.

Every fact that we can backtrace, falls upon the same range. 10 to 12 thousand years. In other words, the Earth is relatively new, not millions of years old as some scientists say.

So, why would scientists not agree with this? Why would they come up with these ridiculous theories about some big bang or whatever? The answer is simple. At the very moment that they agree that there is an all-powerful being, a God, that created everything we know, they realize all their sins. At the moment they realize their sins, they know that they'll have to eventually have a commitment and a close relationship with God. They don't want any commitments to anyone. So what's the easy way out? Make up some random theories that we evolved from monkeys and that the Earth just happens to have been created randomly by a Big Bang, that they themselves can't explain how it supposedly happened.

I sincerely hope this has opened your eyes to the truth. Thanks for reading this, and I really hope that you now accept the commitment that God wants you to have with Him. If you're already commited with God, then I hope this text has restrengthened your faith.

God Bless all of you, and have a great day.

You sound like a great person. I am a christian, and I have been my whole life practically. I firmly believe in God and a life here-after, but I don't know how to answer your question!!

I don't feel like it's the right thing to say whether someone is going to Heaven or Hell. It's not my place, it's God's place. I have so many family members and dear friends who are not believers in God, but there is a part of my heart that believes that I will see them in Heaven because they are wonderful people with good hearts.

I believe that when you believe and have total faith in God, then you accept that you can't understand everything. That's what faith IS. So, I honestly don't know the answer! Anything anyone tells you is just going to be their opinion because nobody knows the answer!!

The big difference between someone who is a good person, like you, and someone who is a believer in God, is that they have made a commitment to God. They have a close, personal relationship with God. They trust Him with their lives, despite the hate and resentment they get from people in the world. (and believe me, we are HATED by nonbelievers!) So it's basically an acknowledgment to God ... saying "thank you, God, for giving me life, and free will ...." I could go on and on, but I won't!

Stay strong. Be moral and proud of who you are. And be happy. I wish you well.

Jesus said there two men who went to the temple. One was a first class citizen, religious ... the other was a cheat, a collaborationist with the invading enemy, a real selfish guy that nobody would have any respect for. The first guy prayed, and said: "I'm glad I'm this and that, and that I'm not a ---- like that guy over there. Thank you God for making me such a good moral upright guy".
The other just hung his head down, beat his chest, and said: "Have mercy on me, I'm just a no-good sinner". Then Jesus asked: Which of the two left the place justified in the sight of God? Jesus' answer was - the second!
Does that give you an idea of what my answer would be to you?

Ok first there is no Hell why would a loving God put you in a fire to brun for ever. When he gets rid of a soul he kills it for ever. And just because you have morals it doesn't get you in to heaven.

Mr 10:17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?
Mr 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
Mr 10:19Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.
Mr 10:20 And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.
Mr 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

You have to believe in God and His son Jesus to obtain the 1st resurrection. Which brings me to the next point-resurrection No where in the Bible will you find Rapture or the thing about going to heaven as soon as you die. the truth is we sleep and wait for the resurrections. There are 2 resurrections supported by scripture wont post them they are kind of long let me know if you want them I will get them. The 1st one is at the seventh trumpet in Revelations. This is when God saints are resurrected (not the Catholic Sanits) True followers of God.
Re 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
The 1st one is a gurantee to ticket to the kingdom of God.
The second is the judgement resurrection. At the end every one will be judged if they are written in the book of life then they get to go if they are not in there the go to the lake of fire where there is no coming back. death of the soul not burning forever. The frist one is obviously better cause your soul can't die.
Again let me know if you want the scriptures. I will give them to you.

EDIT:To say were you will be i can't do becuse there is one judge and I'm not him. So the choice is yours.

This is the very reason Christians try and tell as many people as we can about Christ our savior he's the only way to our Father. No one can come up to God's standards that's why we need Jesus, his blood covers our sins. Even though you've lived a good life by the world's standards, it's not good enough for God.

This is one of the most fundamental questions of religion - how do you get into heaven? There are generally three responses - through deed, through knowledge, and through feeling. (each has a technical name, but I'm no theologian, so I don't know them)

If you believe the first, you believe that if you do enough good in your life, you go to heaven, or that we have to follow a particular routine to get to heaven. If you believe knowledge is the path, and that our knowledge of the scriptures or whatever lead us to heaven. If you feel that feeling, in a sort of "spiritual elightenment, Nivarna" sort of way, you believe we need to experience God, or the divine being sufficiently to reach enlightenment. Now most religions are a combination of all of these, maybe placing different emphasese (hope that's the plural of emphasis) here and there. For example, it could be said Islam focuses mainly on the first two.

However, Christianity argues that none of these are true, as we cannot do enough good to match the perfection of God, and that we all sin (which is defined as going against the will of God in thought, action or behaviour), and that we cannot know enough about God since he is omnipresent, and we cannot ever fully experience God, and therefore we will always fall short of the requirements for heaven. Therefore we must choose to accept Jesus as our Saviour - in other words, we must hand over the responsibility of our lives to him, so that when Judgement Day comes, God will not judge you on your own imperfect attributes, but on those of Jesus Christ, who is perfect. Therefore, in not accepting Jesus Christ, or God, you still reject him - which is a sin in itself, and the weight of this sin cannot be truly comprehended as in a way it is treason against the Creator of everything. The question is, do you believe that you can get into heaven on your own merits?

According to the Bible, you must accept Jesus as your personal Savior in order to get to heaven. Good works are not enough to get you into heaven. Eph. 2:8-9 says "For by grace are ye saved through faith, not of works lest any man should boast." If you don't give your life over to Jesus Christ, I'm sorry, but you would spend eternity in hell. It's not too late for you to change that outcome.

For all anybody knows, there might jus as probably be an anti-god or something up there in your afterlife. Or it may be like, a parallel universe where people have polka-dot skin.

Stop worrying. If you chose to live a moral life that's great. You're helping this the only world you're SURE exists.

God is love, if you love your mother, girlfriend, etc. where do you think it comes from? I guess I am wondering how can you love yourself and others and say no God exists when HE is the one who created it and you? don't let what other people have tried to make God out to be influence you to totally turn your back and not acknowledge him. Your life would be better if you believed. why wait until your dead to find out?
