We fast for one month, sacrificing our own needs and desires from the time the sun rises until it sets. In this month we pray for forgiveness of our sins and we remember God on a very strong level during this time (of course all year-but for me Ramadon is special because I give much more of myself to my faith and to God.) Self sacrifice toward unnecessary or 'dirty' things is a daily thing for a Muslim.

We,muslims, sacrifice in animals like:camels,sheeps...etc.in a specific day in the year we call it: Eid Aladha(immolation day).
But we don't do that because of sins,we do it because Allah commands that, and prophet Muhammad peace be upon him did it too.
Not all muslims should sacrifice, the one who can buy the sacrifice and wants to do it,he/she can do it.
The sacrifice is shared out with family and poor people.
