8-10 minutes if they are thawed and the king crab 12-16 if frozen king crab - 6-8 if small legs or if they are thin. Place in pot open end first.
I place them in a roasting pan cover and bake at 425 for 10 minutes a pound (thawed 14 frozen) for a sweeter taste and to prevent them getting too soggy.

I prefer to bake them - it's way easier and I think they aren't as messy when you do them in the oven. Heat your oven to 350 degrees. To make the meat easier to get out of the shells, I give the legs some hits with a meat cleaver. Alternatively, you can cut the shells open in places with some kitchen shears. For big king Crab legs, you need about 10 minutes. Smaller legs like snow crab take about 7 minutes. Cook them on something like a cookie sheet with raised edges (to catch any liquids)

I would usually take about 7-9 mins if they're large, and not frozen.
