You could end up with permanent nerve damage if you wait too long to get things taken care of. I assume that you have already seen a doctor and have worn the splint, done the exercises and/ or physical therapy, had the nerve conduction tests, and have been formally diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome? If this is the case and it has been suggested that surgery is needed then you should refer to your company's handbook about medical leave procedures and your rights as an employee. Should you decide not to get the surgery, I suggest trying massage therapy or chiropractic care to help with your symptoms.

I have it and the pain can become unreal. Not to mention, at one point I couldn't even hold a pencil I let it go for so long. If you were wrist braces at night when you sleep for a long period of time, that helps, but don't let it get so bad that you can't even make a fist. If you do surgery will be inevitable. If at all possible wer the wrist brace at work as well. That will help keep you from causing more damage.

get some carpel tunnel braces. There is one with a metal splint in it to wear at night and a soft one to wear during the day to allow movement. I wear the soft one when sewing and doing alot of computer work and it helps tremendously. Also, try taking some Motrin for the inflammation.
