I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, so I can tell you that we are mostly like other people, and our kids play with the same kinds of toys that many kids play with. If I were the mother of the child, I would love for my son to get a gift that was educational, such as a nice book or puzzle or even a play set of some kind.

My son just turned four a few months ago. His favorite thing is Spiderman. Spiderman action figures, Spiderman comic books, Spiderman video games, Spiderman backpack, Spiderman movies, and so on. He also likes Superman and Batman. I know my son can't speak for every four-year-old out there, but many kids that age share the same interests.

If I'm buying for a kid I always get them a gift certificate for Toys R' Us. A few years ago me and my bro were gonna buy a Tickle me Elmo for our buddy's kid but it turned out 2 aunts already beat us to it. So the next year we got him a gift certificate instead so he can pick something of his own.
