Been dating long distance since I moved to NY in September. He said he would marry me once he got a decent job, but I fear he has changed towards me during our separation. I'm going back to Tokyo to visit him next week. He says coming to the airport costs too much money and time, and he will see me soon again the next day, so he thinks he won't come. I begged him to see me the day I arrive, which is Wednesday, and he stressed that he prefers to see me on Friday. He could compromise and see me Thursday...but I said I really want to see him the day I arrive. He was very worried and nervous that that would lead to him staying with me in the hotel, something he clearly does not want to do. His tone of voice, worry and attempt to avoid this situation indicated this. Yet when I forced the question, he says he still wants to go out with me, that it is not the case that he cannot break up with me out of kindness, and he would not rather be friends. What is going on and what should I do?

Agree with the people above. Sounds an awful lot to me like a married (or seriously involved) man who is stringing you along for sex on the side. I know it is painful, but you need to cancel this trip, get over him, and move on. Time for a clean break.

I would say he doesn't want to be with you anymore and that you should be hearing that in this not coming to the airport to meet you ... if my b/f was flying in from tokyo i would not only be at the airport I'd be there w/ flowers and a huge smile ...

I'm guessing you are both from Japan ... and he may be feeling pressure from his family to marry someone there and to not move to the states ...

I would say that maybe you should re-think your Tokyo Trip unless you are going to see family too.

in case you had a stronge dating, he may be there to fulfill you. If he had a good reason to no longer be there he wouldnt be giving lame excuses. If the cost ticket is refundable i would not flow and permit him recognize that if he might such as you to come back see him then he had ultimate plan on being there to fulfill you and not wait til you have been in the rustic for 2 days.

Your pressure tactics just might push this guy away. It seems like he's feeling a bit smothered by your neediness. You should give this gentleman some breathing space so that he will be able to enjoy your company peacefully.

Respect him and don't force him to stay with you in a hotel. Have you previously been intimate? This is a factor that I was able to equate.

He is clearly hiding something. Another girl? I don't know but if it were me I would force the issue. Visit him (surprize like) and see what's up at his place.

It could be ...he respects you! If you are not sexual involve he
probaly doing this to protect you both from sin......My future husband & I went through a seperation period because we couldn't keep our hands to ourselves. It was hard but worth the wait....in almost a year we became engaged this April.
