I have a small open wound on my leg and it's very red and about an inch away from the wound a red mark that is sore has came up. This same exact thing happened to me about a year ago and the doc said it was a staph infection. So I am sure it's the same thing and I am keeping the area clean with tripple anit-biotic cream and then covering it with a band aid. I have heard there is some sore of thing I can buy at the store to soak the wound and it will take out the infection. Does anyone have any suggestions? THANKS

I know this will sound stupid.. but I do already have an appointment for next Tuesday ( just 4 days away) after the first few answers I was shocked. So should I wait that long - I was just thinking it would be okay to wait but now maybe I shouldn't???

if it is a staph infection, you will need a strong, a very strong antibiotic!!!!!! This can kill you and it spreads fast and if you had it before it could be a stronger more resiliant form of the infection. This is not the kind of thing you want to "take care of".. with over the counter stuff.

You need antibiotics to get rid of an infection.

You can use Epsom salts to soak it, but it wont cure the infection.
