An Do What You Will be the challenge,
So be it in Love that harms none,
For this is the only commandment,
By Magick of old, be it done.
Eight words the Witches’ Creed fulfill:
If it harms none, do what you will.

Fa shizzle. It sounds good to me. To everyone else: It may not be possible to never harm another, but you must try. That's what the Dalai Lama meant when he said to 'live idealistically'. Intent is definitely part of the 'karmic equation'. Old, new, or whatever, this is still a good idea in this poem. When using magick, you really must have some sort of moral and ethical center to your thinking and actions and this helps to provide a start. I would recomend peopel just getting into the study of magick study the teachings of the Buddha as well.

No - I wouldn't agree that it's truth. I'm not saying it's not a good guideline - it is - I just don't believe that just because someone doesn't intend harm that harm can't happen. Mothers will sometimes protect their children too much and they end up dependent on their mothers. Sometimes good intentions, done with all the love in the world, are harmful. I prefer more of a balanced approach.

No, this I do not believe to be full truth. I am a witch but if you look at the source of this, you will find that it is not ancient. Nor is it solely an original work. It is good to do all that one can not to harm another. However, in reality we as humans are going to hurt another in one form or another. It is no different than turning the other cheek or believing in karma (both of which come from different religions).

That is their belief...but that seem to put a lot of restrictions on them, I don't see how you could follow a creed that's so vague, how would they know, what might hurt one may not hurt another.... it can't be completely done...i studied Wicca and wanted to be a witch......this belief has no satisfaction , something to me always felt like it was missing....I was not at peace as a Wiccan......i always felt alone...I'm now a christian....and I never feel alone ,and I have a complete peace , and total satisfaction, contentment

I believe "An it harm none, do as ye will" to be a good guideline to use for life. Is it "truth"? I don't know if that's the word I'd use. It may be someone's PERSONAL truth, but that doesn't make it a UNIVERSAL truth.
