Atheists arn't promised "rewards in heaven" nor do they want any money. All atheists want from religious people for them to stop trying to force their beliefs on us through the law

Personally, because I respect that Christians don't share common beliefs than me (an atheist), and that doesn't bother me. I will never change their minds, and even if I could, why would I want to? People are often happy with the knowledge that when they die, they will again see there families and finally reach an area of absolute perfection. They often try to be good people to reach this place. Furthermore, it makes them happy.
However, I find it rude that Christians try to change my mind, even after I said that I wasn't interested. I don't need comfort about death because I am not afraid of it. I have plenty of love and happiness in my life without God, and I'm very morally bound (I don't drink, do drugs, I don't plan on sex before marraige, I get good grades, and I plan on going to college, etc). And honestly, I dislike the thought of there being a heaven. I feel very much that death will be like going to sleep, which comforts ME. And it frustrates me that others will try to take that away from me and don't respect my point of view or my intellect by telling me that no matter what, I am wrong and I will go to hell if I don't convert. I keep trying to tell people that I would no sooner change my mind then they would theirs, but no one ever listens.
I really wish that other people would learn to respect others and be more tolerant. =/

To Christians converting is not an evil thing. They just honestly are trying to help. Their religion tells them that. If you think about it it would be selfish and un-holy not to. If they sat back and went to heaven and watched atheists go to hell they would be doing evil in their mind. They aren't trying to hurt you when they do this. They just think it's the right thing to do. As for atheist they don't have any rules so each one speaks for themselves. They could let people believe in God or tell them it's bogus. It's up to each individual atheist. Atheism is not a religion so they wouldn't be converting them anyway, just telling them that what they believe is wrong. Hope this helped.

Atheists do try to convert Christians, or in the least tell them they are following something that is not proven and that Christians in history have done evil things....

Atheist do not try to convert Christians?
Have you ever been to Yahoo Answers R&S before?
This placed is filled to overflowing with people who do not belive in GOD much less Religion or Spirituality yet they are here 24/7 trying to explain why there is no GOD which they don't believe in anyway. Why are they here? Why do they care what we think? Why are they here on Friday night? Good Lrd this freaks me out to no end.
LOL
May the person you don't belive in richly bless you while you are not trying to convert anybody.

Not all Christians do but when I told one of my friends that I was an atheist she went ballistic and kept repeating verses from the bible breathing down my neck. I was all.....ok then. But she doesn't do that anymore. Though for those who try to convert us into Christians, I have absolutely no idea why they do it, since I'm not one of them
As for atheist, actually, quite a few of them try to convert Christians into athesit, me discluded. I don't want to do that because people are free to believe in whatever they want and I also want believers to think about it themselves and figure it out whether those fairy tales are real or not. The number of athesits in the world is currently increasing, and that's great for me.

Not all Christians proselytise, and some atheists do, but I think the reason why people act the way they do is that some Christians have long been told that they must evangelise to save people's souls, and atheists respect that each person must find their own spiritual path.

You don't try to convert Christians because quite frankly it is too late. They are already converted. However......you are not and still have a chance.

If you think Atheists don't try to convert Christians, you've been doing some very selective reading around here...

It goes both ways. You must keep your eyes closed if you believe that it is just Christians who try to convert.
