This happened all of a sudden. We had a couple of power outages and windows was stopped and then started incorrectly, but that has not bothered my computer before. What can I do to fix this. The machine will not boot. When I go to system setup, the primary drive is listed as unknown drive, like it can't even see it.

Your drive is hosed if your bios cant even see it. There are data forensic companies out there to recover your personal info if you did not keep backups. They do cost a lot.

i thinks it a partition thats not booting because they are alway labeled (0,1,2...) go into the bios
