The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic. The men who do not become Americans and nothing else are hyphenated Americans; and there ought to be no room for them in this country. The man who calls himself an American citizen and who yet shows by his actions that he is primarily the citizen of a foreign land, plays a thoroughly mischievous part in the life of our body politic. He has no place here; and the sooner he returns to the land to which he feels his real heart-allegiance, the better it will be for every good American. There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

The U.S. uses globalization to grow ever more richer. For this it has a few tools: multinational corporations, the World Bank, the IMF and the World Trade Organization. We have been told that the latter three have been set up to fight poverty. So how come the rich are getting richer and the poor are still struggling? Because this was the plan all along. :
There is no known case in which globalization has led to prosperity in any Third World country, and none of the world's twenty-four reasonably developed capitalist nations, regardless of their ideological explanations, got where they are by following any of the prescriptions contained in globalization doctrine.
Here are a few of the "sorrows" we can expect:
PERPETUAL WAR - Domination cannot be achieved unless you are perpetually at war. There always is someone who does not like your domination and challenges it. Many Americans will die
POVERTY - Multinational corporations in their pursuit of more profits will reduce wages of employees to the miserable levels they are in the Third World; corporations will be rich but their employees will be poor. Furthermore, war is very expensive, so much so that it will deprive citizens of other needs
AUTHORITARIANISM - An empire is run by an emperor, of which George W. Bush is a reasonable facsimile. Already we have a Patriot Act, a surveillance act and a torture act. The emperor alone can designate anyone as an "enemy combatant" and put him in a "dungeon" for the rest of his life. Pretty soon the Constitution will be meaningless

As far as I can see our democratic country is becoming a socialist country with every new program that our government creates. Why should the able bodied person that doesn't work because he/she is on a program for every human need they have live as well or better than the man who works 80 hours a week and busts his butt? Heck, If you can get away with what is your incentive to work hard? Personally I wasn't raised that way but really where is the incentive? That goes for illegals or nationals!

Amen to T.R.!!! We are doomed anyway. There are way too many morons in this country that have no true historical education when it comes to the U.S. Their heads have been pumped full of liberal/communist BS for the last 18 years or so. Kids are being taught that America is evil and responsible for all the bad in the world. I give the U.S. another 30 years, after that it will be no more. China or someone is going to kick our azzes all over the place. The world is plotting to destroy us as we speak. Stay tuned!!!

rc, that was then and not true today. How many people do you know that say I'm German-American or Irish-American or Italian-American ? Our country (USA) doesn't have a problem with these people for they have truly become Americans. We do have a problem with illegal Mexicans taking over our country. Get your ducks in a row and you will see the true problem our country is facing.

Did you know that America is the first civilization in world history to actually succeed in spite of all the numerous sub-groups? Why change something that works?
Are you saying that the only good Americans are men?
Do you need to update your thinking at least to the 20th Century?

America has always been a melting pot of conflicting nationalities and racism, nothing will change that. It is quite possible that it has actually been america's greatest strength. The assimilation of all these dissimilar groups through negotiation and shared self interest. Only once did the negotiation process (congress and senate) breakdown, the result was the civil war.
Study some history before spouting asinine jingoistic drivel.

I have to agree. It chaps me when I hear people refer to themselves as African-Americans. I'd be willing to bet $$$ that none of them have ever been to Africa. If I did that, my list would be long. The only true Americans are the natives, the rest of us all came from somewhere else (at least our ancestors did). We are AMERICANS and if we can't be proud of that, then we are doomed.

No, I don't agree.
Many people are proud of their heritage and should be able to embrace it. Some may use their heritage badly and maintain the allegiances your talking about, but many do not and they should not be punished for the actions of others.
I also think you missed the part of your example in which they all have the word 'American' as part of those labels. I think you need to look at people individually instead of smacking them with labels and your standards. That's not what this country should be about.
