You can make a 'cat corrector' out of a spray bottle. Be sure to rinse the bottle thoroughly if it has had any chemicals in it.
Then fill with water and set it so it streams rather than sprays.
This way, you can aim directly at the cat.
When the cat does something you don't want it to do, hit it with the water and make a loud noise, like "NO!"
After a few times, the cat will actually respond to just your yelling.
I have also hissed at my cats before (like their mothers do), and it gets their attention, but you usually have to spray them, too, at least in the beginning.

If you want something ON the tree that works while you're not there, ask at the pet store. There are sprays that are supposed to keep pets off things - I've never had real results with them, but paying attention and spraying the CAT a few times has worked well for me.
Good luck!

I used to have this problem, and that i've got 2 cats so it exchange into two times the worry. What you're able to do is purchase a twig-bottle (it particularly is observed as a misting bottle or something comparable), fill it with water, and whenever you notice the cat mountain climbing the tree, spray the cat with the water... i assume that your cat, like maximum cats, does not like being moist, so at last it particularly is going to study that by mountain climbing, it particularly is going to alter into moist and uncomfortable. needless to say, swap off your christmas tree lighting fixtures furnishings until eventually now you do this :p You observed as additionally decrease off the decrease branches of the tree so the cat can no longer climb. If it particularly is the decorations your cat is involved in, go away some baubles (no longer glass ones...) mendacity on the floor so the cat can play with them. If all else fails, take care of the tree extra effective so it could no longer fall over and merely permit the cat do what it needs...

I have THE PERFECT solution for this. Hang bells on the bottom branches of the tree so that the minute they start messing with the tree you will hear it and can chase them away from the tree or get them with a squirt gun. There's also this spary you can get made by HARTZ calld "NO!" the cats don't like the smell of it....sometimes it works, some times not.

It is near impossible to keep kittens off Christmas trees. I've tried the expensive sprays and all it did was shrink my wallet. Kitten proof the tree by tieing it to the ceiling, using plastic ornaments and hanging them with yarn instead of wire hangers. She will grow out of it someday but till then, my sympathy is with you. This is how I found my cat the other morning when I woke up. It was so cute I couldn't be mad! http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2449809560098625606IvWmad

my sister got a special spray thats meant to keep cats away from certain things from the petshop, cant remember the name tho as we only got it once and it smells yucky.
as a better alternative, u can try sitronella or a citrus spray in general, cats hate citrus smells. and maybe kep a water bottle in hand to spray it whenever it does climb the tre, this way you are teaching it thats what happens if it does misbehave but doesnt link this punishment to you so it wont hate you

When she goes for the tree squirt her with a water bottle. My kittens were eating my window blinds and this worked for me.

A good method is to cut up slices of oranges and lemons and place them in strategic spots all around and in your Christmas tree. To cats, citrus smells like poo does to us. It stinks, and the cats avoid it. You can also get citrus sprays for your carpet and tree.

Get a spray bottle, whenever she heads for the tree, squirt her.
Most cats will learn fairly quickly.

If not, take her for a wok...
