Do you think cycling for two hours everyday even weekends is obsessive. My brother believes that I am obsessed but I'm trying to stay in shape because my hubby is outdoor cycling like crazy and I want to keep up.............in other words I don't want to be the fat one in the relationship. So what do you think??

its not bad to want to be in shape but exercising too much can cause overuse injuries.

i have first hand experience.

i run in long distance races along with playing soccer for a league.
i was a top runner and a fair player for soccer. i was exercising 2+ hours ever day. then i got a back spasm in my back and had to spot everything.

now i have physical therapy to fix myself but i cant run for over 10 min.

take it from me.
its great to want to be in shape but too much can lead to bad things.

No, you're fine. I do about an hour of cardio myself (usually jogging or elliptical) plus about a half an hour of strength, every day including weekends.

It's hard to stay in shape once you get into an office job and you're exposed to a lot of restaurant food and outright crap at the office on a daily basis. I'd say this: pay as much attention to what you're eating, and make sure you are getting a healthy, balanced diet with a lot of whole grains, fruits and vegetables.

Probably MORE than you're doing would be obsessive, or at the very least "pro athlete" type training. Meanwhile, enjoy!

Good luck.

No it's not. You have to keep yourself in shape. I wouldnt wanna be the fat one in the relationship either, plus it makes you feel confident. So just be fit and don't loose too much weight and have a healthy diet. That way you hubby isn't the only one with the hot bod, and when you guys go out for dinner guys will still check you out!

Do you ENJOY cycling for 2 hours a day? if you don't then you are pushing yourself too hard for something you don't enjoy. Find another hobby that you enjoy more to keep in shape. also, they only recommend 30 minutes of cardio exercise per day...so 2 hours is a little obsessive...unless you enjoy it.

Not if you enjoy cycling. I used to cycle to and from work every day, an hour each way and even then I still enjoyed cycling at the weekends. HTH : )

If those two hours is spent using that bicycle to run errands, or to be transportation and not merely exercise, then I don't think it is excessive. Spending that much time as purely exercise, with no additional purpose, is probably a bit much, but I would not call it obsessive, merely excessive.

if you want to stay in better shape you should do a wide variety of excercises, if you do that you'll have twice the progress as him and look way better. People that only run or ride bikes usually have a weird looking body
