Is there a relationship between the colour of soil and it's pH?

The only way is to measure the pH.

I understand what you are saying: the darker the soil, the greater the proportion of organic matter, so the higher the acidity. That may be so, but a lot will depend on the bed rock. If it is something like granite, then yes, the soil will have a low pH. If you are over limestone, then the pH will be higher no matter how much organic material is in the soil.

Addition: I just remembered that the dark colour in soil is also related to the iron content. I don't think this has a direct bearing on pH, so it doesn't contradict anything already stated.
