Hello:
Yes we do. I consider myself to be very independant. I'm not one of those girls who is just going to college to meet a husband so I can end up as a housewife (which is what many of my friends are doing). I like being on my own, and I don't depend on my boyfriend for many things.
As independent as I am, my boyfriend is still there for me and treats me right. He doesn't open the door for me every time, but when he does I find it incredibly sweet. He knows that I dislike roses, so when he get's me a flower it's always something really different and unique.
I don't think that any women, independent or not, would complain about being treated like a lady.
I hope this helps, and good luck.

Just because a woman is independent and strong doesn't mean she isn't a lady. Everyone appreciates good manners (opening a door for any lady is good manners) and flowers are a wonderful, thoughtful extravagant gift...and I don't know anyone male or female that doesn't like them!

Yes, according to independant ladies I have talked to say they enjoy being treated like most other ladies, such as having doors opened for them etc.

as independant as I am, I hide the fact that butterflies go through my stomach when a door opens for me or when I'm put first before a man, but I do give a simple 'thanks' every now and then (even though I'm melting inside)

No, no, NO. I absolutely can't stand it. I can handle the weight of a door, and if I needed flowers, I'd buy them myself. I regularly eat pancakes on the grave of chivalry (killed by my feminist foremothers, natch).

I don't like a guy who over does it. Then I am turned off. He should be polite but not give me everything. I like a guy who is as hard to get as I am.

Of course they do, no matter how independant you are, you still want to believe in romance. Well I do anyways.
