Inflammation of the cervix is due to a infection, which has irritated the cells of the cervix. Any of the ordinary vaginal infections can cause it, as can spermicidal foam, or even the latex in a condom. The cervix can also be irritated by a diaphram or the spermicidal gel used in combination with it. Douching can cause it, as well as deoderants found in some sanitary pads/panty liners. There are many causes not related to infections or STD's. You just need to determine the cause as best as possible and do what is needed to treat it or eliminate it. The gynecologist should do a wet prep examination of any discharge to eliminate the possibity it is from an infection, and then treat you accordingly. If the problem persists, then you would need to work with the doctor to discover what is actually causing it. There are other treatments available to combat the problem, such as laser treatment, but those are usually used as a last resort.
