They had a kindred spirit. I have very close friends and over the years our friendship just grew, I don't know if anyone can tell you how. These two guys were the same age, trained together, went to war together, and they just hit it off.

Saul of Tarsus (Paul) had no children, he considered himself single, although certain thoughts tend to believe he was married at some point because he was a member of the San Hedron, and part of the requirements for membership was marriage.

King David lived many years before Paul was even a twinke in his fathers eye.

I believe they both had an exceptionally clear interpretation of God's unconditional love and what it truly means to be a "friend".
