I saw the same thing and am trying to find that gospel and the gospel of Mary and to tell you the truth all of the gospels they were talking about. I'm not so sure that it is real or fake but the bible says test all things.... also says seek wisdom, not just biblical wisdom. Kudos from me, your on the right track...however, I seriously doubt the authenticity of the book. Googling it doesn't help much!

Of course it was not written by Judas but by those who felt he was portrayed wrongly in other scriptures. Now even the books that made it in to the bible were not necessarily written by those they are attributed to, and they were written after the events describe, 40 to 100 years or so. So the original gospel of Judas may have been a contemporary of some of the later biblical texts.
One of the discovery channel documentaries on the bible, which came out before all the gospel of Judas stuff, actually had some of the bible scholars with similar views. That when Jesus told Judas to go do what you must he was actually asking Judas to turn him in, as Judas had been one of the most trusted and would do what Jesus asked. the 40 pieces of silver was simply what was given to anyone who turned in someone, not the motive at all.
I find the little research i have done at all of the Gnostic gospels very interesting. If I were somehow to go towards being a Christian i would be a Gnostic (although I guess that isn't Christianity really either)

You need to read up on the history of the canonization process. Basically, Pope Damasus closed the debate in 397 and issued the official list of books to be read from in Church. The whole purpose of the bible was to have an authoritative list of books, consonet with Holy Tradition, to read during the divine liturgy and the prayer of the hours.
I strongly recommend you read about the process. You cannot judge this book from its content, you are too far disconnected from it in time and space and you do not speak Coptic.
It is not an evidentiary problem. It has to do with the ancient process, still used by Catholicism, Orthodoxy, the Oriental Orthodox, the Copts and the Ge'ez. The sole question is "is the Gospel of Judas part of the Apostolic Tradition (paradosis in the bible)?" If so, then it is true, if not then it is not.
Since the Apostles passed their apostolic authority on to their successors (the first was Matthias in Acts 1:46) to make decisions on paradosis and leading the Church. And further, since the earliest times, Peter's ministry was always regarded as residing in the See of Peter at Rome. It became the sole responsibility of the episcopate in union with the bishop of Rome to sift through the differing testimonies, services, art work, documents, songs and stories. Part of that work became what we now call the Bible.
The early Fathers excluded Judas, therefore it is not part of the apostolic tradition. That does not mean it is either true or false. Merely, it was not passed on by an apostle.

Since it is not part of the Canon of Scripture, as defined once and for all time by the Holy Catholic Church at the end of the 4th Century, it carries no guarantee of truth. It is an apocryphal work, like the Gospel of Thomas, the Gospel of Mary, the Gospel of Philip, etc. It may include some true statements, or not. There is simply no authoritative way of knowing.

a genuine Gospel may be one written via somebody who knew Jesus and became divinely inspired, which comprise Thomas, Judas, Mary Magdalene, Philip, James etc. A fake gospel may be one written via somebody who did no longer recognize Jesus, this is declared that 0.5 the gospels in the Bible have been written via people who did no longer recognize Jesus. regardless of if or no longer they have been divinely inspired, the presence of Jesus may be the main precise proposal for a Christian gospel. The gnostic gospels will possibly no longer all have been written of their recent form via those whose names they undergo, however the unique style of those gospels could have been from disciple named. they seem to appreciate the real teachings of Jesus extra useful than a lot of those that have been secure. whilst the council of Nicea desperate which gospels to put in the Bible they have been politically inspired to comprise those which conformed to their own teachings. God by no ability stopped talking yet many forgot a thank you to hearken to.

It was never used in any church and was not included in the canon of Scripture. Besides, it was written after 400 A.D. It is a phony document that was forged over 370 years after the supposed author died. Think about it.

false. There is a big push to find many things in the Scriptures today as false. If they can put this over on the public, the public does not deserve any Mercy.

It is false. It is not true, and nothing that anybody writes will ever be able to tell me that it is. It is in the same line of the DaVinci Code. All a bunch of lies.
