i was raised Christian and when i began to question things i became agnostic verging on atheist ( when i was about 17 )
this lasted for years ... but i did study during those years
and i researched the paranormal and all those things that i questioned since young due to my own experiences
i started going to spiritualist church only a year ago ... but have held the same beliefs as they do for the past 7 years ... so it seemed a natural progress for me to take on spiritualism as my faith

My upbringing had nothing to do with my spiritual beliefs at all. My family never took me to church, and I wasn't raised in a religious home at all. I came to my own conclusions when I stepped into a good church and heard the preaching of God's Word. I found out that I was lost, and that I was a sinner, and that I needed Jesus Christ in my life. I accepted Him as my Lord and Saviour in August of this year, and I base my life on what the Bible tells me. My life has been blessed beyond belief ever since, and I have never felt the peace and the joy that I have now ever before. God is great, and I praise Him for changing my life.

I was raised Presbyterian, and am now Pagan. It's more a matter of the upbringing and childhood I had influencing my beliefs and leading me *away* from the ones I was brought up with. The experiences I had didn't mesh with the ideas of Christianity.
There's something about a Born Again Christian telling a 9 year old girl "Your father must have done something bad to have died so young, and he's burning in hell now" that just doesn't make me have any sort of warm fuzzy feelings towards the Christian concept of God.

If anything my up bringing from school exposure and nonbelievers was a influence in me not believing. School teaches the opposite to creation. It was not until I was an adult did I find the Lord. I believe many have been influenced by their upbringing but this has nothing to do with the individual making the personal choice of a relationship. No one, not parents, mentors, or peer can do this regardless of the upbringing.

I came to my won conclusions when I was 17 and educated by the Jesuists. Once I said in a class essay that Jesus was not the Son of God and just a prophet. I got the best mark. Since then I have evolved from totally atheist to firm believer. Currently I am skeptical and agnostic.

My upbringing influenced me to the point I have backed away from religion. I do not accept what I was taught as a child, due to the fact my mother constantly ruled us children with "the fear of God." There was never any love associated with her religion, just constant punishment for not "doing right" in the eyes of God.

When I was, oh, 10-15 or 16 years old, I was taken to church by my parents. I didn't like it much. I believed in God, and I believed that Jesus was God's son, but that was about it. Fast forward to about 45, someone brought me to a bible teaching church and I started bible study. That was 10 years ago. My entire life has changed. So I wouldn't really say it started out well for me, but it certainly will end well. Once confused and lost, now assured and saved.

(1) I guess none I was born and raised a catholic, but now am an ex-catholic
(2) Yes, I've come to my own conclusion after studying logic and the Bible.
I wanted to be an aetheist so I can escape responsibility towards God. But, my logic and my conscience said no.

I actually think my exposure to Christianity in my youth turned me away from Christianity forever. I was exposed to Catholicism through my grandmother, and to other numerous flavors of Christianity via my aunt. I have definitely come to my own conclusions and have defined my own spiritual beliefs for myself. I'm now Pagan.

I was raised Catholic, even tho I haven't really understood religion at that time, my entire life was rough, turbulent. But at a young age I new God in my heart, He was always there for me, even tho at the time, it may not of felt like it. My story is basically like that of Job in the Bible, but not as bad. Although God I feel led me through experiences to teach me, but he always protected me, I've survived perhaps more times and things that most people just don't, perhaps there's plenty of reasons why. God was my teacher and my religion.
