Generally no.

No. You actually have to read it to judge it, although many books with trashy covers are trash. If the publisher invests a lot of money on the cover, they could think it will help sell the book because the content can't. So you just can't figure that a good cover means a good book either. It's like people. A good-looking person can be a piece of trash, while a not-so-pretty one can be a beautiful person once you "read" them.

Probably not. The Authors of books do not usually illustrate the cover, or even choose the person who is to do it!

yup. if the cover is tattered and the spine broken somebody thought it was worth reading. If it has sat on the shelf and the cover is pristine it is not likely to be worth reading, but if you recognize the title or author then you might want to take a look inside and afterward have a more informed opinion.

Nope. The cover never gives you all the information you need to make a judgement. Same goes for people, their appearance does not tell you much about them as a person.

Yes, otherwise how do you know what the book will be about? People will be reading dictionaries thinking a twist ending will be coming up. People will be reading the Da Vinci Code looking for their grandma's phone #! Its ludacris lol

No. The phone book cover makes it look interesting, but it turns it that it's really boring to read.

Not really

"Rape on the Coast" is a book on how big business was desteroying the shoreline in many states. At least read the blurb.

And in extending this metaphor to people, let their actions dictate the truth of their words

if u literally mean books.... yes and no... read what it's about and that's how u should judge it....

if u mean people.... no!! don't judge a person on their looks... get to know them and then decide what u think of them...

Of course. That's where the author and title are listed. Otherwise, how would you know what the book's about?

Books - yes, you won't know if it's your kinda book if you don't.

Otherwise, no, in life you sometimes have to dig deeper to find the truth.
