No it does not, it just replenishes you with electrolytes. Use Cloraseptic throat spray or halls for instant relief. Then use Zicam, it is supposed to stop a cold in about 3 days. Try some Advil or Tylenol.

Gargle with hot salt water several times a day. Gatorade won't help a sore throat. Take some 500mg Vitamin C.

I have a family recipe for this, 1st thing you need is a drinking straw!
Try to collect some salt on one side of the straw and insert the tip of the drinking straw close to your throat. Suck in hard or ask someone to help to lay the salt on your tonsils (IT HURTS!) (suck in is more effective and it hurts more too) make sure you have a glass of salt water to ease the pain.
Get ready a glass of honey with an inch of lemon to mix with tea. drink for every 2 hours take a few tablets of 250mg vitamin c or 2 tablets of 500mg.
You will be back to normal in just 1 night (remember to sleep early so that it helps to reduce the body temperature)

Gatorade will only soothe it temporarily.
Gargle with salt/aspirin water to cleanse and take pain relievers as needed.
If it does not go away in three days, see a doctor to make sure you do not have strep.

I am going through the same thing...my doctor tells me to drink tea and put some lemon juice in it. It really, really helps me. Gadorade won't help too much.
