If it is okay to do something because the Bible does not specifically say not to, then there are a lot of things that covers. It seems to me it doesn't say to specifically not have sex with children, just not outside of marriage, so does that mean if you marry the child, it is okay?

where in the bible does anyone celebrate a birthday or any of the world's holidays?
if one wants to participate in any practice or tradition, let him not be self deceived into thinking the approval of God is upon him,.

That is a very good question, Papa Bear. Your reasoning is sound: the Bible does not say refrain from having sex with children. So some might reason it is okay to do so as long as you are married to the child.

I feel you are probably very much aware that the Bible is a book of principles much more than an exhaustive list of do's and don'ts.

For instance, the Bible does not specifically say we must not have an abortion. Still, the principle found at Exodus 21:22-23 should make it clear to thinking individuals how God feels about even the tiniest embryo in a mother's womb. Then of course there are the commandments which forbid murder. (Not killing - but murder.)

The Bible does not say we must not burn down our neighbor's house. Still the principle found at Matthew 22:39 which commands us to love our neighbor as ourself would certainly preclude such behavior.

So it is not okay to do something simply because the Bible does not forbid it with specificity. And I think this is the point you are trying to make with your question. Am I right?

There is no explicit command regarding the non-celebration of birthdays. But, the Bible frowns upon superstition; and birthday celebrations originated from superstitious beliefs according to World Book encyclopedia. Further chap 10 of 1Corinthians says that Christians should get away from pagan practices.

On the other hand, there is an explicit prohibition against abortion. A soul (or life) is exchged for another soul in case fighters hurt a pregnant woman and abortion occurs.

The Bible limits sex inside marriage. So, any sex outside of it is unlawful in God's eyes.

When interpreting the bible look for its principles or intent of the author. Looking for specific letters of the law is unreasonable and an insult against God who gave us intelligence and conscience.

It says in the bible to hold firm to your traditions. Remember the Church came first not the Bible. The original Catholic Church has these answers because the Pope is God inspired they hold these traditions. Including the Eucharist being the true body and blood of Christ. That's exactly why Christ left us the Church. Since then some people have said they only believe in the bible. However there are so many denomintions because people interpret it differently over 1000 now. Thus if you want the original truth turn to Catholicism. If you add up all the different denominations of Christians in the world different than Catholic.;Catholic still out number all of them added together.

Romans 13:1
Let every soul be in subjection to the superior authorities, for there is no authority except by God; the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God.

Therefore the Bible say's to follow the law of a country, and it's against the law to have sex with children (or marry them).

Regarding an abortion, that would come under murder and you're not allowed to do that either.

There are two laws you reference here. There is the law of our government and states, and there is the law of GOD. It is real cool for you to bring this up because if you have eyes to see it then within the answer lies the proof of GOD's existence. How do we know what is right and what is wrong? When we say things like "That's just wrong" How do we know? We know because we have knowledge of good and evil. We get convicted by the Holy Spirit and it rubs us the wrong way. That is why there are many people on here pulling their hair out over something they claim they don't even believe in. Oh they believe, that is why they are spitting fire. They can't seem to ignore GOD away. And the "J" word really freaks them out. he he he Jesus Jesus Jesus is Lord! Its just words, why do they get so bent? They are fighting against the very Spirit of GOD, that's why.Otherwise they would be anywhere in the world besides here in Yahoo R&S. So the Bible does not say a lot of things but the Holy Spirit does.

Well, I'm not certain about Birthdays or Holidays...

But abortion is covered under " Thou shall not murder ".

As far as marriage to a child, I'm not sure that could be done. Children are not allowed to enter a legally binding contract (such as marriage) with out the consent of a legal guardian. But biblically, I suppose not.

How ever, it would have to be a marriage recognized by God, not just out of lust. So be careful when you are deciding whether you've found a loop hole or not.

as to birthdays, it doesnt say not to celebrate,, it was explained to me by someone from a religion that doesnt believe in celebrating birthdays, that the reason was that bad things happened in the two birthdays he quoted from the bible, now that doesnt make sense to me, but it did to him,

not to have an abortion comes from you shouldnt kill, and especially shouldnt kill innocents

as to sex with children, i think we are suppose to atleast have a little walking around sense, and know not to do that! and most cultures havent allowed marriage to a child, so there would be social restrictions even if not religious ones

It does not say anything about celebrating birthdays- BUT as far as abortion goes- Look at God's commandments- Remember "Do not Kill" --that right there supports that abortion is wrong. Aborting a baby is murder, no matter how young the fetus is- it is a living being. And it is wrong.

I don't know who you have been listening too (Sounds a bit like the JW to me) but no matter... There is no reason not to enjoy the life that God gave you so celebrate your birthdays and have great holidays. The Bible does tell us not to murder... If you believe as I do that the unborn are indeed living human beings to murder them by any unnatural means is against God's commandments.... Jim
