You will know he loves you if he shows that he cares for you, remembers the things that you say, if he knows what you like and tries to give them to you, when he is attentive to your needs, if he is willing to do small sacrifices for you and if he respects you and values (at least tries to) what you value. If when you look into his eyes, you see the tenderness there. If he makes you feel like you are special even if you don't feel that way.

You just answered the question yourself "Words are easily said".
Fulfilling responsibilities is where people really prove that they love you. If you want my advice? I would suggest a blunt conversation about what each of you considers the other person's responsibilities to be to move forward in the relationship.
For example:
Do you want children? How many? What are your financial goals? How much debt do you have? How much debt is ok? What are your financial expectations? Where will you live? What if one of you gets a job somewhere else? How much do you need to retire? How much will you spend on a house? What religion will your children be? (if different) Where will you go on holidays? etc. etc. There are many more, and they are the questions that can point people in two different directions until the relationship breaks.
Good luck. :-)

Unfortunately, I'm an honest guy, so if anyone ever questioned me when I say that it would drive me insane. However, since most people are quite dishonest, you'll have to observe their actions carefully, understanding their overall demeanor. It may not always be easy to tell the truth, but if you pay enough attention it shouldn't be too hard.

You have to take a leap of faith and let thier actions speak for them. You are right anyone can say anything...I know that...but you have to try inorder to live. You can't stand and watch life pass you by..you have to live it. Is it worth a possible heartache to be with this person if only for a while? If you say yes to that then you need to go for it. Good Luck.

You can feel it, you see it in their eyes, you feel it in their touch. In how they treat you. what they say to others about you. It is not always their actions, b/c something may be beyond their control that is preventing them from acting - showing - being - who they really are. So look in his eyes. does he look directly at you?

If you know the person well enough, then you will know if what their saying is true or not. You need to trust the person also.
